ok so now im sorting through all my wiring.......

anyways im using the website www.vintageconnections.com since they seem to have the cheapest parts from what i found. if theirs a better website please let me know.

i also know of oregon motorcycles but their prices are more

anyways i want to replace all my connectors on my wiring harness so this is what i have so far....

4mm bullet male and female 25 connectors
3.5mm "^" (this is for the turn signals) <----- 1975 cb550 uses this i guess
latching 8 pin M/F connector 6.3mm spaded connector
latching 6 pin "^"
latching 4 pin "^"

now this is what i cant find the last part.....



the middle 9 pin connector. i can not find this. i know its not a mini connector either. its a normal 6.3mm spaded latching connector.......

its a 1 - 4 connector, one wire goes in the middle then it can be split into 4 other connections



i dont really have to stick with period correct fitting either.... if theres a cheaper maybe even modern way to do all these connections im open to all suggestions

well i cant seem to find a wiring harness for a 75 honda cb550

i have found wiring harness for the cb750 but nada on the 550

unless there the same?.....

Those spots where the harness is spliced together are probably stock.

I like how the left hand connector in the 2nd to last picture looks - like it has cavities ...  yuck!!

I'd like to change over to metripack waterproof connectors on my 750 once I get to that stage, something like these:

I have a set of crimpers from Radio Shack.  They need a anvil shape that pushes the tangs of the connector around and into the wire.  Connectors can be had from Suzuki fairly inexpensively, usually in packs of 50 for around $10.00/ pack.  Sockets are available, too - usually about $3.00 - $6.00 each.  The connectors are brass colored, not tin like OEM Honda.  Their bullet connectors aren't compatible with the OEM Honda ones, however so you'd have to change both sides...

Here's a short list of part numbers:

Male bullet: 09900-28701-001
Female bullet: 09900-28701-002
Male blade: 09900-28701-011
Female blade: 09900-28701-010
2 socket connector: 09900-28701-006 (for large blade connectors)
6 socket connector: 09900-28701-013 (For large blade connectors)

Most of the splices are definitly stock (same color going out as going in) if you undo the tape there prob sodered conections, I found this also when I had to rebuild mt electronics bracket and wiring after the battery was reversed by the PO. If you didnt buy the wire crimper from vintageconnections.com I would highly recomened them prob the best $35.00 I spent on the bike.

well i found 2 places on the net that still have "supposedly" OEM NOS cb550k1 wiring harness.

im going to call them tomorrow to find out if its legit

32100-374-000 is the part # for the harness

both stores are only open tues-fri so i will call tomorrow to find out.

Yes, I agree.  New is better. 
There are limited sources of used parts near me so it's nearly always ebay.

Well, from where I am I pretty much have to go to San Antonio or Houston to find a motorcycle junk yard.
It's usually cheaper to just hit up ebay.

Did you end up going with one of these outfits?  I am looking to replace the wiring harness as well on my 1975 CB550F.  Looks like the part # for the 550f is 32100-390-000.  Not sure if I should ebay it or bite the bullet and get a new one.

So I was looking at www.vintageconnections.com and the Professional Kit CK-1 - $55.00 with the Crimping tool, sounds perfect.  However, when I look at their order form in more detail I notice that the connections that come with the kit are 4mm and state -  "Do NOT use for any models of Honda inline fours, from 1969 on. Order SB2, below".  The SB2 is a 3.5mm connection, but they do not have 3.5mm connections for ALL the various connection types that come in the kit - like the dual socket connection. 

Anyone have any thoughts on the 4mm vs 3.5mm connection?

Yes, but you will wind up with 2 tools you'll have forever and a harness you know is right... And I'd rather spend time working than standing in line at the post office than returning an incorrect (or inferior quality aftermarket) part.

I've used V.C. to rehab 2 harnesses so far. Good stuff. Super fast. Del actually takes a second to hand write "Thanks" on the invoices. You can use the 4mm connectors if you replace both male and female and don't forget if you replace the part that connects to the harness to replace that connector. I'd skip the kit and buy the individual 3.5mm parts you need. His block connectors are the same story (at least the 6.3mm ones I got)- you HAVE to replace both ends, as they do not meet the OE exactly.

And, yeah those look like the factory solder splices. Another option is to buy a junk harness with decent connectors and cut, splice, and solder. If you can't find the 4-1 connector, just solder in another like color wire and use two 2-1, etc.
