Well, I really liked the early Camaro and the Stang sure had a good run. Both with good lines and styling. But when I was in high school I saw a 1969 GTO on the lot and had to have it. Fold down headlights, 400 4 barrel, glass packs, hood scoops, etc. Bought it and loved the car. Put on some wide Goodyear tires and ET mags and she dressed up nice. Later in life I rebuilt that motor when I broke a ring. Then rebuilt the interior and new paint. Took it to shows and it did not see the WI winters. Sold it about 15 years ago when priorities (kids) changed.

Well, to be honest about it, I have never driven a Challenger OR a Cuda. So, I, personally, can't compare them in all reality. Now, IF were are talking old Mustangs and Camaros, why not throw in the Trans Am Firebirds? Myself, even though I AM a Mopar guy (btw, alot of folks would really be surprised, if they ever put the new generation Chargers through the paces. 4 wheel independent suspension helps.), I'd love to have an early 70's T/A with the 455HO.

Now, I've never driven one, but those Challenger T/As and the AAR Cudas SHOULD be pretty good handlers. I KNOW that there was alot of development with the Shelby Mustangs too and even though I am not a Ford man, can appreciate all of that. I figured that this was referring to the cars in general and not specifically on the handling. Overall, IF the Mopars were included  ( I know they weren't and I'm not trying to hijack or manipulate it either, so I hope it isn't taken that way), I'd have to be talking about the Hemi & 440 6pack Challengers and Cudas as well. Let's face it, back in the day, there were alot of powerful cars and now day, we seem to be headed back into that, which I think is amazing, as I never figured to see factory performance cars again. Did You all?

Good looking GTO, Johnie! I understand YOUR feelings very well. myself, I had a '69 road runner, married a Great Gal who also had a '69 road runner. Of course the cars and my Wife are now gone, but I bought a '69 GTX to dedicate to her and one day, I pulled up to a stoplight in Fort Smith, Arkansas and found myself sitting next to a '69 GTO. Back in the day, the race would have been on! But, this was just about a year and a half ago and we complimented each other on the cars and drove off a little bit aggressively, but still respectfully. ;)

I hear ya Johnie AND to come across a decent sort, in another brand, is pretty cool as well. Case in point, I ended up sitting next to a '70s Camera once, that was obviously "Built" as from the way that engine sounded, tunnelram and 2 4's sitting out through a hole in the hood AND a full roll cage with more than adequate wheels and tires. I mean THAT Camaro was BAD!. He was a decent sort though and, once again 2 of us were admiring each others cars. Now days, when ever I see him out, he gives a nice wave. Pretty cool.

Here is what I'd LIKE to have. A Challenger Drag Pak. Comes with 512 C.Is. of Viper engine. But is only offered as a "Drag Car' with no title, only an off road registration AND there is no way I could afford one anyway!

That's my thought.  None of them compare to this. Not even close.:)

If I had to chose between those lesser two it would be the original Pony Car.  The Camaro was just a copy cat.

Bought the 1st one in Canada (flat floor coupe in Desert Beige), when it was 11 years old & 11K miles, paid $750 in 1973.   Sold it a year later for $2300, thought I was a genius; its worth $130K now.   Also had a big block 70 GTO convert, with the hood tach.  Got tired of watching the gas gauge fall at stop lights and sold it.

Oh man, that is something, to have bought on that cheap and made that much on it. Back in the 80's, my old '69 road runner had been sitting for a few years, needing the engine rebuilt, interior work, a paint job and some work on the right rear quarter panel and things were tight. We decided that it really needed to go to someone who COULD fix it up and we sure could use some money. Sold that one for $800. It sold the same day it appeared in the newspaper. A guy came down from Springdale Arkansas with a trailer and loaded her up, before I got home. Now, go try to buy even a fixer upper!

At least, in my case, I have the '69 GTX in my yard though. So, there SOME resolution there, huh?

Brenda always fancied a Jag painted British Racing Green. The closest I ever came was to get her a Plymouth Grand Voyager LE that was a resemblance. She appreciated my efforts and I felt good about that. ;)

Bought my 2008 Mustang as an former V6 rental car.  My Ford dealer bought it at auction late November when the convertible prices were cheap.   Six months old with under 11,000 miles for about half of sticker price.  Dealer said he hasn't been able to get them that cheap since.  Has been a good car, only been back to the dealer twice in 2.5 years for minor things.  I bought a used set of GT "Bullitt" wheels a couple weeks ago, makes her look a little better than the stock V6 wheels.

The Camaro wasn't released when I bought this, but I don't think I could have justified buying a Camaro at full price for I deal I was able to get on this one.  Although a friend of mine just bought a new SS Camaro, it is really sweet!

You are right, there.  These "rally-'round-the-brand" threads are pretty dumb when you consider the product under the brand varies so greatly.  What parts do a 65 mustang share with a 2010 model?  What parts from a 69 Camaro are shared with 2011 model?

When you think about it, not even the manufacturer admires the older model within the brand.  They are all demonstrably crap, which is why you should buy a new one, and not carry on with all the mistakes they made on the prior models.

Wouldn't it be great if someone would pay you just to use your name?  Because it is so much better than everyone else's.

I would say this argument in akin to which is better: a severe knee to the groin involving blood in urine or a tittie twister that takes off your nipple.

Well at least you'll know whats going on with your nipple, blood in urine on the other hand, now that could be a whole bunch of issues.
