Tews...don't have a video camera for that, sorry. If I can work it out with my son to be here I will. But once I am ready to fire it up I don't think I will be able to wait for him to show up with his camera... :D

Seems most every 750 I get the clutch is stuck as they have been sitting so darn long. Never have had to disassemble though, they usually break free for me after a good warm up or two, some fresh oil getting around. On a 71 I did this summer for a guy though I had to tie the clutch handle back for awhile and it finally came around.

Eric...I guess it would not hurt to tie back the clutch handle for a few days just to help it out. Just picked up some no ethanol fuel for the bike. Now waiting for my new petcock, OEM air filter and air box rubbers. Replaced the cracked fuel cap gasket last night. Getting close. This winter will be rebuilding front caliper and master, the fork seals, polishing the fork legs, pack the steering head, new chain, and whatever else I find. Probably new 341's too.

Just doing some putzing tonight while I await those parts. Got the fuel lines in place and cleaned the small amount of old fuel from the tank. Put a bit of the no ethanol in to swish it around a little in case there was something I could not see. I was able to get a few pics of the tank interior after the cleaning and hands down this is the cleanest tank I have ever found. A complete contrast to those filthy carbs which were the worst I have ever seen.

WOW! Why do you think it remained that clean? Did the P.O. coat it with something?

ZZ I was wondering the same thing? I plan to ask the PO sometime about it. Did not feel like anything in there except that little bit of old smelly varnish color fuel. At least it smelled like old fuel. I wonder if it could have been some kind of coating? If it was fuel then it was put in there prior to ethanol which would explain the no rust on the bottom from no water.

ZZ I probably should check for mice. Did not think of that as there was no sign of mice crapola anywhere. But thanks for the reminder.

Well, I had much success today. I got the new petcock in place, new fuel lines connected, air box rubbers and OEM filter installed, new battery, new plugs, cleaned the points, checked connections, added fuel to the tank, turned on the fuel...good...no leak from the overflow. Time to hit the starter and VROOOOOM. She fired up very nice. The cam chain was very noisey so I took care of that. Let it run to operating temp per Hondaman. Let it cool. Fired it up again and took it out for a gentle break in of 20 miles. Stayed close to home just in case there was a problem. Dang with only 5,310 miles on it she runs like a new bike. Shifting and clutch were excellent. It suprised me how this Mack 4 to 1 sounds a lot like the 341's. I thought it would be much louder. The only problem I had was I knew my low beam was out, but then the high burned out. So here I was out riding this K3 with no headlight (required here), not registered, and the plate I put on is for a 360T which I sold. I thought I was going up the river if I got caught by the cops. Not much riding season left here in WI and it was only 52 today, but the ride was very nice. The other bikes are all put away, but I think I will keep this one ready for a bit. Get a few more miles on it before bringing it into the patio for the winter work on it. Probably won't be much new on this project thread until I get it inside. Then with deer hunting, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and my son getting married Jan. 7th, it does not look like I will get much done until mid January.

OOPS! Sorry Johnie! Anyway I was looking at the pictures, that thing is super clean. Did you ever find out if the P.O. coated the inside of the tank with anything?

ZZ - have not contacted the PO yet. He still has to give me the center stand and some exhaust flanges he has on a work bench. I will find out about the tank at that time. I was able to locate a new OEM Honda diamond for that left side cover so they are ready to go. I found it in Canada at a dealership. I checked it out and it was 18 days from the time I got it home to the time I fired it up. I just did not think there were bikes in this condition still out there. I feel very lucky to have landed this one. Looking forward to getting the 341's on there by spring. I plan to enroll in the "Pipe-A-Month Club" so the expense does not knock my wife off her feet... :D

Johnie, you made the comment to me when I got my KO that I must be living right, well I think you fall in there with me now buddy;) what a super nice K3 and for what you got it for makes it even nicer! Its like it was put away and than 30 some years later you came along and blew the dust off it and a few other minor things and your good to go ;D. I would with out question add to my collection if I could run across a deal like you got on that K3. I agree with you, it's hard to believe a 38 year bike could be in such great shape. Keep pics coming as your progress continues.

Im sure MM would go for a ride with you on it :) ;) :D

Pipe a month club does sound like a plan. By spring the collection of pipes would be ready for riding! With some new 341's on that baby, it should be ready for concours judging at Pebble Beach! LOL
