I realized that the first gear does not jump out anymore. It would routinelly happen at stop signs and such.  I guess it fixed itself, putting miles on Honda is the best cure.

Do the gears shift in a 'notchy'/tight way?  is it required to completely back-off on the throttle similar to a BMW R75/6,etc. ?

I never experienced any problems with it.  With clutch in to shift the transmission you just move the other shifter, too.  Or you can keep transmission in gear, clutch in and switch high to low or vice versa.

Yes,I remember you spoke about those cases and they seem like a great case even with some of the foam left in there to protect your valuables from vibrations.

I just wonder about those side bag racks;they look like they originally were designed for a different type of bag,some large bag to fit into those open racks ?

Oh, I see.  Sorry i did not understand.  I bought 1/2" bending die, 1/2" steel tubing and bent those frames on my HF chinese copy of hossfeld  bender.  It took me a while to get it right but I was eventually able to get two almost identical rectangles with curved corners.

Dont get me wrong, originals are great mirrors.  Honda really got it right on those, solid and big.  But one of them would not hold in position anymore and the right one could not really fit once I had to tilt the master cylinder.

Even Honda mirrors don't all last 40 years, no shame in replacement, especially for a safety item.

The windshield makes huge difference.  I usually ride if the temperature is above 40.

I hope to finish Frank's challenge this year.
