No more PhotoBucket.com for me!
« on: February 21, 2008, 12:21:59 PM »
I did a bunch of assembly on the Tracy bike and went to upload some photos to Photobucket and I can't any more.
I thought I might have gone over my free space so I paid them $25.00 for a huge increase in space. Still won't work ::)

Emailed them and they said I may need a newer version of Safari.  I don't really want to start working with new bookmarks and crap!

I know there are other sites to store photos...........Can you give me a link to a couple?

Safari is the mac's version of Internet Explorer.

Seaweb, it shouldn't be that difficult to update your browser...  In fact, I'm pretty sure it automatically transfers your bookmarks when you update.

If that's not the case though, it saves the bookmarks in a physical location on the hard drive.  I can look it up for you if you want...

seaweb,  I was informed by mikedialect, that Flickr was a pretty decent place to put photos. I tried them out and have had no trouble so far and hasn't cost me anything either. Worth a shot.

If you decide to try it, hope it works out for you. I've been using it since hondatwins.com started and, like I said, No Problems.

The only caution with Flickr is that you may stumble across adult content. Be ready to avert your eyes instantly.  ;D

About the only thing I do is load pictures and select some of my pictures from there, to load up somewhere else. I pretty much keep to myself, while I'm there.

Seaweb,

You're right.
Something has changed over at photobucket.
I can't upload anything.
Give you guys a break 'till I figure it out.

I've been using flickr to post pictures of our son so family and friends can see them.  It's been working great, but I still like photobucket better for hosting pics to post on discussion boards.  The uploading and linking process is quicker.  Could just be that's what I'm used to, though.

But like Dan said, updating your browser shouldn't affect your bookmarks or other settings.

Safari is the mac's version of Internet Explorer.

If Safari is mac's version of IE then you really might want to try Firefox.

Camino will probably be going away since firefox 3 is almost out. Firefox 2 works good too. We put both on the lab machine at the college I work at.

Seaweb,

I updated the Mac operating system with 10.4.11 which also put in Safari 3.
Everythings seems to work on photobucket now.
186 mb update . Took about 45 minutes to download with my DSL.
What a pain in the ass.!

I've been using flickr lately, but also have used picasa which I still like for a desktop photo tool and comes with a free web space for photos that has only a quota on the uploaded data, not on the amount of daily uploads like the free flickr.  On my wife's Mac, we've used a picasa uploader that integrates reasonably well with iphoto.

seaweb,  Once you've loaded the picture, click on it, then click on "all sizes" that is above the picture itself, then go down below the
picture, right click the picture's URL and paste it where you want it. That should take care of you, IF I was able to explain it clear enough. I have a problem doing that sometimes.  Good Luck!

I don't understand why the info doesn't show below the picture over on the Flickr site. mikedialect is the one who told me how to make it work. Maybe he could help you out also.

Myself, all I did (after loading the pictures), was to:

Click on the picture, then click on the "All Sizes" above the picture, then right click "copy" on the picture URL (below the picture) and paste where ever I wanted it. I don't have a clue what's going on  that is causing you a problem. I think it'll be just fine, it we can just figure out what the problem is.

Hey, I just try to help out when ever I can, especially when I know that the help is appreciated (as in this case ;) ) I know what you mean about "Head Temperatures". ;D Sometimes, I have a tendacy to keep after something until the temp starts to rise. I know you'll feel better when you can get the photo thing resolved and so will I. ;)

Seaweb,

See your, now modified, post at 1:32:28 PM today. When you are in Flickr and on the photo you are trying to display here, right click on the image, then select Properties. In the middle of the box that comes up is the Address..http, blah, blah. Highlight that URL address and copy it. Come back to your post and paste the address in where you want the picture to appear in the input area. Then highlight it again within the input area and select the image icon above the input area. It will place delimiters on each end of the URL that the software will then interpret and recognize it as an image and retrieve the content from the address you inserted.
