The box is here, has Yamiya all over it, it appears intact but no time to open it, my cylinder head guy said have the heads in Mi at 8 am and he will weld them tomorrow. That has me leaving around midnight.

Congrats on the pipes!
Tell me about the exhaust paint with ceramic and aluminum, what will it do for you? You are swabbing it in the inside of the new pipes/exhaust? Do you have to degrease the internals of the pipes?

Since the pipes are new I'm assuming they are fairly clean. The paint sprays through a 24" poly tube and comes out with a round pattern. You shove it in, push the top of the can and pull it out as you spray. I'm hoping it resists moisture as long as possible. You do need to clean out the drain holes. I seal the ends with tape and roll the pipes every way I can to make sure any wet paint inside gets distributed evenly. It does spray a lot.
In my climate the stock pipes didn't last long. That said, I'll be sure they get heated up very time I ride in the cool air. Probably no rain or snow. I tried to get pics but had an almost 3 year old helping.

Just put a little two stroke oil (you can now buy smoke-less two stroke oil) in with every other tank of gas Don, and the two stroke oil mist will coat the internals and protect them from moisture. I'm yet to see an exhaust on a two stroke bike that's ever rusted out.

I'm in total agreement Terry. I have a 1970'ish T350 Suzy in the driveway and it's got an almost perfect exhaust. Too bad some azz left it outside with no tank seat or air box.
I've been using a little Amzoil 2 stroke and no alky gas to try to protect my gas tanks and it surely won't hurt the mufflers. I coated the insides too. The GL1000 gets what's available on the road but no alky when possible.

For anyone that can't see the pic below here's a link. This was the bike I had imagined so many years ago, I dreamed of making it run, we got my brothers bike running too so we could ride together again. I hadn't been on a 750 for over 20 years.
The seller really got the best of me at $650, he had a smirk on his face as he turned away with my money in his hand. It was karma, I was looking for Lester mags and there was this bike for sale for what the mags were selling for. Instantly the rusty K3 I drug off of a clothesline post was set aside so I could get this running.
Oddly enough, I've set aside a pair of stock K0 wheels for it.

Since the 70 was so tippy and I noticed the forks were shorter than the sandcast, I made chrome moly tube spacers 1 1/4" long and stacked them on the springs. I took apart a set of 6" over tubes to check the size. Now it sits up nice and worries of it tipping over are less of a problem. I haven't ridden it yet due to carb issues involving sand from blasting in the gas tank. With any luck the rattle will be gone, but I believe it's the caliper bracket pivot end play.

My brother said air cooled VW valve springs stacked on the stock springs are quite effective. Unfortunately he has cornered the market on them in storage.

Blue-Green bike,cylinder number three not firing. plug swap, still #3, check spark, looks great, drop fuel bowl, level looks good, check float operation, seems correct, fuel flowing, dropped jets, they are clean. Blew through jets while installed ?, #2 firing good. 1,2,4 pipes heat up nicely rocker arms set properly, lash OK. rockers rocking, new exhaust not plugged. nothing leaking now, pipe heats some with rpm but not enough. Raised the slide just in case the screw had backed off no change. Will need bench balanced again now. recent plug caps. denso plugs.
Looks like a compression check and carb removal again. So much for riding it to Ohio.

Trey Nalley, Nalley Racing. Stiffed me on the Honda used 4-4's but got my money back to me after 3 weeks of excuses. Another member sent the money because Trey has no paypal. Trey acts like we're good, we are not. If you don't have it, don't sell it. If you make a deal and later regret it, follow through. He called me, I wasn't searching for the stuff.

Anyway with that business out of the way, a member here checked with me to make sure I got square. I'm done with it.
I bought a new set of Yamiya no number pipes from DSS. then I coated the insides, it's surprising how cool the headers are on the surface.
Today I learned how to set my 4 cable carbs properly and made a blow gun with a 1/16th copper tube to reach the carb inlets. I blew out the passages on the bike and cleaned them again, and finally got a test ride. This thing pulls awesome, it's not as peaky as I expected, there is a little left side miss at cruise rpm, I'll re-clean those two tomorrow and take it for a 30 mile test. This is probably the first time it's run this good since I repaired the bent valve, swapped in the cam and new springs. Somehow the left grip got slimy inside and I had trouble hanging on under a lot of throttle.

I printed a pic of it to pin to the cycle shop bulletin board owned the guy that assembled my sandcast from the crate. He may have done this one also, we'll clear that up too. We know I have the first one sold here, he has the second and this green one may be the third. There's approx. 4,000 numbers between each one. 5511, 9600 and 14,100. I want his.

My plan is to adapt a wide band o2 sensor to a spare baffle I have so I can check one cylinder at a time on both bikes and maybe a set of 4-1's I have.

Don...no idea if this helps with your picture posting problems or not...at 7/11/2019, 6:42 pm, I can see your most recently posted pic. The next time I look at this thread, it may be gone. Sometimes, you post a pic and I can see it, then the next time your thread comes up because others are saying the pic is not viewable, I go back and look and it is gone for me too.

slikwilli420 was having the same problem with the same hosting service. He may know how to fix it.
