oil tank ? on a cb 750

well hi thanks for reading my name is johnny and im the new guy here so heres my story!!!! The other day i saw a video on youtube and fell in love with the honda style bikes been riding all my life currently own a gsxr 1k .... So i had to run out and pick up a honda. i  searched craigslist for awhile till i found the right deal and well i did i found a clean 1978 honda cb 750 that runs in great shape for 300 bucks and even has a title. I already have striped the bike down and hard tailed it. i will have a few ?? one of them now is do i need to run a oil tank i was told no but they never gave me a reason is ther a post somewhere for i have searched and got nothing. oh and by the way awesome sight i have a bunch of reading to do .

First off welcome!  Yes, your bike needs an oil tank. Some guys change the location when they cafe 'em.

Yeah I agree, I would bolt a tank back on other wise your first ride will be pretty expensive.

cyclex sell some flanges to run the oilline up under your rear seat cowl if you look around at the inspiration gallery or some of the BOTM's you will see some bikes that have a hidden oil tank

You have to be careful of advice you get on other forums.  Many don't know the subtle differences, or requirements, of the SOHC like they do here.  DOHC, no oil tank.  SOHC, oil tank required.  Welcome.

wow thank you guys so much im not gonna run the stock oil tank so i guess i getter start brainstorming

+1  The SOHC 750 is a dry sump design, no oil tank, no oil. ;)
