Well stacks are pretty well out of the question anyway because I live 3 miles off the pavement....

Pods are no good if you live that far from the pavement, they will cake up with dust and cause the bike to run like crap, not to mention that when you get caught in the rain they get soaked and flood the engine.
But if you are dead set on using them get a good set like the K&N's, you will be cleaning them a lot,and the cheaper ones dont clean up well and need replacing more often.

I dont remember where.

But +1 on the cleaning.
A recharge kit is like, 12 dollars.. and it has enough to clean those things maybe 10 times? Which is a lot.
K&N would make back its price premium on re-usability... if you will actually be replacing your pods when they get dirty.

"""Seeing as some people has to get side tracked and be a smart ass, """

side tracking is good, other things get pointed out and discussed, questions get asked back, and people who dont even post but look will learn a little here and there, sometimes the mood or tempo is lost with the typed word,,i didnt sense any smart arse replies,if you want an easy to ride no hassle honda four engine these were really designed to have a certain restriction through the intake, and as soon as its altered the carbs can only be altered so much to compensate, youll lose or gain high or low but never or very rarely have that nice tractabilty and wide torque band the engines had so many years ago which made them so advanced for a jap bike,or any bike in their day.

Pass the popcorn scotty. ;) :)

If you really want an open triangle, you can retain the stock plenum (with the stock stacks), and add a single K&N off the back into the triangle area (there are threads on this, search).  Given you are on a dirt road (dust) you will be cleaning if often.

As for the single shock, don't.  It will be an evil handling bike because of swingarm flex.  Dirt bike swingarms are like that are designed for the application, the 350's wasn't.

this thread makes me picture another poor CB destined to be burried under a tarp in the back-40....until it shows up on CL in a few years, ran (poorly) when parked, and  @ $4000 because its been cafe'd and has pods.   ::)
