JIM,  The biggest problem with any carb for a turbo setup is running out of gas when on boost.  The SU carb i run on my A.T.P. setup has a larger emulsion tube, main jet, modified needle and a custom larger fuel bowl to hold more fuel so it won't run out on boost.  MR. TURBO has a custom larger fuel bowl for the HSR carbs. What mods they do to the HSR's i don't know.  I'm going to call them myself to find out. Probably just jet, needle and emulsion tube changes plus the larger bowl.  HSR's can be found used for great prices if you look
on ebay and craigslist.  If your not going to run alot of boost, it won't be to hard to tune.   ;)

As far as I know they are in 2mm increments..you could bore a set of 30s to 31mm if desired

quick up date,

I sent my used MTC pistons back to MTC to get checked out
They measured this pistons to be 64.5mm but they said they
can be used. I asked Kim if she might have a set of 836 pistons on the back
shelf somewhere. She called me back and said she has a set that has been
on the self for sometime and would sell these at a reduced cost.
New everything from the crank up but I do have a good set of used turbo pistons that can be used
if needed.
I then called Mr. Turbo and talked to there race tech department and I am having a 42mm flat slide set up for a turbo application.
The original Benex Zenith carb is going to be shelved as parts cant be found and limited tuning capabilities.
Mr. Turbo has all of the gaskets and hoses for the Ray-Jay turbo that is out being rebuilt.
They told me that the old wast gate is still a good one for this application and the only thing to replace is the gate spring

So pistons, rings, wrist pins, cir-clips/Buttons are on order as of yesterday
the carb set up gets ordered today
going to get the motor down and start on the transmission hopefully by Tuesday of next week

Then its Mike R turn (Mike I will call you over the weekend)

Hey Jim,  did they go into detail as to what mods they are performing on the HSR 42 ?  Also, why replace the wastegate spring ?   The factory one in mine worked to 22lbs boost pressure.

I am going to order the kit from Mr. Turbo on Monday and I will find out what they do and will PM you the info.
They are very familiar with the ray-jay turbos and have all the of gaskets for them. They will also get ordered

He said that wast gate was just fine and there was no reason to replace it
Just lube the piston and make sure it moves freely
and the  valve moves freely also

The only thing that he mentioned about replacing the spring was to make sure it was a 0-10 PSI spring
but its also out with the turbo getting checked out. The turbo is being rebuilt.

Well the top end is off and looks really good but considering that I only had about 500 miles on the bike
in 20 years it should

I  still had molly lube around the cam towers

This pistons look new

Cyinders still measure 2.5585/2,5582 +or- maybe .0002 on all 4 cylinders
I might be able to use these with just a good hone for the MTC pistons

Jim, you should buy these part for spares. My turbo guru says its getting hard to find housings and turbines for the Ray Jay setups. Garrett knock offs are all about but he doesn't advocate using that junk.

Up Date 1/30/12
I will post some pictures tomorrow but I am just to tired

I have the engine out of the frame and apart. Found what I think is a bad 4th gear so it will have to be replaced
all the bearings are in good shape as well as the crank mains, big ends

The Pistons will be here tomorrow (MTC 65mm turbo pistons, rings, tool steel wrist pins, cir-clips/Teflon buttons)
and the used set that came with the kit (There still good also)

I talk to Terry Kizer at Mr. Turbo (Nice guy to talk to and very familiar with the ATP systems) and ordered the HRS 42mm Flat slide with all the hardware to mount to the Ray-jay turbo (They have all the parts to re-build the Ray-Jay Turbos also)
also ordered a 0-10 Lb fuel pump, all of the silicon hoses for the intake tracks and the turbo to the plenum.
all of the gaskets exhaust but will have to make the waist gate gasket. (No problem)

I had a long talk with a Mr. Mike Rieck and talked more about what to do from the crank up
Cycle X super rods
Heavy duty case studs and bolts
Heavy duty cylinder studs and head bolts
Heavy duty primary chain
Heavy duty cam chain
Some port work
oversize intakes and exhausts (If I herd Mike right)
bronze guides
Ti retainers and heavy springs stock keepers
Stainless valves
web turbo cam
cycle x valve cover with the cam tower supports (If Mike didn't buy the last one)

and?????
Its late
see you guys tomorrow

Jim
