Well as soon as its broken in and off the dyno I might get Bill Benton or Drag-racer Frank some seat time at the track
just to see what its capable of doing in the quarter mile. But this is a stock frame so the wheel base is not what you would
call turbo friendly and a 350/18 rear tire.................

but it will be used as a street bike and should be A LOT of fun

Jim

Hey Bill, did Jim just designate us as his official, turbo test dummies????? Hahaha.

JIM,  I didn't read or see anywhere on what yer doing to the cylinders.  Are you going to have the cylinder " O RINGED " ?   Also you definitly need to run a copper head gasket.  Believe me, i know.    ::)  :o

to be honest I am not sure what to do about this
whether it be "O" ringed or a copper gaskets or one of the multi-layered systems.

You definitly want to have your cylinders " O " ringed and use a copper head gasket.  Anything else is a total waste of time and $$$ .  I still have 2 burnt pistons on the shelf to remind me of what happens when you take short cuts where you shouldn't .   :o ::) :(

O-ring and copper head gaskets for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anything that increases cyclinder pressure will test a standard gasket or even one of those MLS gaskets. The O=ring will bite into the copper head gasket and create a more substansial seal. Remember, an internal combustion engine is nothing more than a pump, what gets forced in, will find a path of lease resistance to get out. Seal it, seal it, seal it.  If we can blow a head gasket using nitrous injection, imagine what happens on boost. Be safe and either o=ring the block or the head or both.

Ok Mike, you know where my brain is half the time. Lol.

I looked at a set of pistons today and was like, what the heck little motor does this go into- then i realized they were stock 750 pistons- hahaha. Been messing with big race motors way to much lately.

I use a copper base gasket and head gasket on my SOHC motor and the block is o-ringed.

We all have opinions but we must defer to the motor builder's expertise on this one. My day time job is to manage a municipal drinking water company. My other job is to transport my granddaughter to school each morning and pick her up from daycare in the evening.  Not only that, Jim is paying the bills here-lol.

I ran my little 736cc turbo motor with an accutronix copper head gasket, no sleeve O rings, but it had cylinder studs and good nuts. I cranked it up to 30+ lbs of boost several times, but normal was 15psi.
I didn't encounter any gasket issues, but my cylinder pressure wasn't extreme either, as I had those stock pistons way down in the hole. 5 base gaskets will lower the static compression in a hurry. I also ran good gas and was pretty conservative with the timing. One thing I had learned by that time - don't rattle the motor.
This motor was built from spare / leftover parts. If I had been serious I'd have O ringed the sleeves like my big motors had, but remember this was bonzaid together with most of the parts coming from scrap motors. That head gasket was the only purpose - built piece for this combination.
I melted a new set of Arias pistons due to a failing little pos fuel pump so I supersized the petcock and got a Holley red pump and regulator, and presto no more problems.

Good info here.  I too am planning a 836 turbo but I am going to add fuel injection.  I am currently searching for the proper size throttle body and I was thinking 40mm-45mm was the correct size.  Sounds like you are running a 42mm carb?

Mine is strictly for street use in my aftermarket chopper frame.  Planning on using 8-10 pounds of boost.  I currently have a 10:1 piston for a K and plan to use the late F head and possibly the DOHC rods to get a low static compression for the boost.  I am not looking to push this little engine past its limits.  Just a little extra HP and a lot extra in the cool department.  I want a reliable machine that I can ride!

Can you take some closeups of the intake setup.  It looks similar to what was brewing in my head that I plan to make.  What boots are you using to connect to the head?
