Wow!  WOW! Wow Chewy!!
That's very very nice.  Do you work for food?  You are getting this painting of flake and candy down!

Can't wait to see it all come together. You are going to paint candy the side covers and tank all at the same time with the same mix?  Otherwise, how would one come close to matching them up...

Hi David,

Thanks I really appreciate the compliment.  Have been working hard and making some progress that I can feel good about.  Having s smooth surface to put the candy down should help a bit.

As for the candy I will probably do it all in one go.  It's not as hard to match as you would think.  Just add a little concentrate at a time an drop it on your test panel you will be able to see how it will come out once sprayed by looking at the drops. I tend to lean toward the darker side.

Good luck!

I'm afraid I have to stay with this until I can source some candy.   :-[

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Looks good to me!  I don't understand why it is so hard for you to get paint where you are?  Is there some friends in another place near by that have an easier time of it?  If so you can have the paint shipped to them and pick it up maybe?

Either way bike look great!!  I had my sandblaster today say he liked the silver better anyway.

I don't think there is much call for specialist paint here so it needs to be shipped from England. It falls under hazardous chemicals so I need to pay extra for shipping. It's also hard to find stuff without transport. When my bike is on the road I'm going to do a tour of industrial estates to see if someone can help me out. Shan't be long now.  :)

If something were to happen and they found out otherwise it could be huge fines.

As soon as the tracking info comes in we can setup something up.  Don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

After reading this post http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=108646.0 and watching the poor man's flake buster I decided to give this technique a try.

poorman's flake buster

For me this is mostly a learning exercise using some cheap clear, some Marta Steward sliver glitter, and HOK KK08 Tangerine Concentrate to tint the clear.

Other than all the bling, bling the best part was seeing how well the HOK concentrate works just 1/4 oz made enough candy orange to do a whole tank!  Also the Harbor Freight Detail gun works great!  Very nice fine mist at around 20 PSI.  I also learned that 16 cent while ceramic tiles from Lowes make excellent test panels.

This is more of a hypnotic orange than sunrise due to the bling factor.  When the sun is out it is hard to stop staring.

My next project will be sunrise, but I got to figure out how to subdue the flake a bit.  Maybe a smaller flake will do the trick?

I am updating this post as I am trying steps 6,7,8 on Retro Recipe.  Much Thanks to Retro for posting this and for answering my questions.

Love how it turned out really NICE work!

This thread is a bit out of date.  I have a few new techniques that I need to add to page 1.  You don't need a super air compressor to paint tanks btw.  A 20 to 30 gallon oil less will work with a good water separator.  It is loud, but works.  I got an 80 gallon, but that is not required.  It is all tank not cfm when painting MC tanks.  Cars you need alot of air.

See that is the problem I have, well one of them is my tank is only 10 gallons so it really is good for small things like getting the dust out of nooks and crannies. :)

Altho I do have that same HPLV gun.

I believe you.  A cheap aux tank would fix that you can pick them up cheap at Harbor Freight or Cragslist.  It will make some water and you need to check it constantly.

I may look into that. I do recall it had a connector to connect a second tank.. Was just not sure where I would find one and just kinda forgot about it.
