I have a Toyota Landcruiser that I don't drive on a regular basis.
I lent the truck to my son in law while he was geting his truck repaired, so decided to upgrade my roadside assistance insurance. Only to find out that it was not registered. :o

Apparently the registration was cancelled ten months ago because my third-party insurance was not current.
How I didn't get busted has got me flummoxed as all cop car's have number plate recognition tech these day's.

I should probably explain how my rego works.
Because I receive a cripples pension I do not have to pay for registration. I do however have to pay for third party insurance and a roadworthy certificate each year.
After they are done the rego is processed automatically.

Anywho, by this stage the truck is already three hours away being driven to work by my son in law.
So down I go to my local RMS to sort it out, only to be told I need to reregister the truck from scratch.
To cut a long story short I. I reregistered the truck with the help of my stepson (he's a licensed motor vehicle inspector)

As it turned out I had paid my third party insurance but due to some glitch or other the policy was not submitted to the RMS. So the rego was cancelled without either the insurance company or RMS notifying me. >:(

That is not why I'm pissed off. I'm pissed of because it was considered a new registration and the trucks original number plates where cancelled.

My father brought his first new car in 1969 and the plates from that car have been in our family since then, assigned to one vehicle after another for over fifty years. So because of an insurance company fcukup and a government agency that doesn't give a #$%* I have lost (for the time being) a treasured piece of family history.

THAT'S WHY I'M PISSED OFF!
The older I get the faster I was.

Yep, that's definitely worthy of the pissed off thread Brian. I bought my Yamaha FJR1300 in March in 2016, got a roadworthy inspection done to effect the transfer ($140) new tyres, brake discs (all three) and pads ($1100) paid the transfer fees (can't remember how much) and VICROADS (RTA/DMV etc) sent me the registration renewal notice, which was due in June. I also set it up for long rides with "Heli-Bars", "Pussy Grips", a taller fairing screen, an insulated cup holder, "action camera" and an air seat thingy. ($1000)

I rode that bike everywhere in Canberra, I'd ride to work, ride home, ride to Yass, or Goulburn or Cooma for a meal, and rode it to Melbourne and back via Bairnsdale a couple of times. On October 31st, I pulled out all my tax documents, and found the renewal notice, that I hadn't paid. Fcuk!

Here in Victoria, you can pay your rego any time up to 3 months after the expiration date, but as I didn't find the renewal until over 4 months past due, it was too late, and the registration had been cancelled. Double fcuk. How I'd never been pulled over by the cops for riding an unregistered bike I'll never know, I even participated in the NSW/ACT Police Memorial ride (to pay homage to cops killed on duty) long after the registration had expired, and there were cop cars with rego recognition tech in the group of around 500 riders.

I was pretty pissed off because the big Yam then lay dormant in storage for the next 4 years until I finally re-registered it late last year. Oh well, it's nice to have it back on the road again. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I would like it if they had mandatory employee terms of employment in certain government jobs,or possibly re-evaluations,to test whether they're still up to performing their jobs the way they should..

Nah, it wouldn’t work Bill, most pubic serpents were no good to start with, so the bar would have to be set pretty low. ;D

I actually applied for a public servant job many years ago Bill, but even though I was the "Top Candidate" it turned out that they already had an (unqualified) lady in the job, and had just advertised it so they could officially promote her into the job. Over here, the public service is the most corrupt orqanisation outside of the mafia. Our state premier (governor) was ultimately responsible for our second Covid-19 lockdown last year, and even though he threw his health minister and senior pubic serpent under the bus, he won't resign, even though 800 people died, and thousands of small businesses went bankrupt. What a POS.

I posted a while back that I had attempted to get an upgrade ID for commercial flying, My credentials included bills to my address. One bank account has a debit card and one was a credit card. I was denied because only one can be a credit card. I asked who has a checking account with no debit card these days? No matter. Didn't get it. Now covid put it off for a while.
I mentioned I've held a drivers license in this state since 1968, and yet I need to prove I'm not a recently arrived terrorist. My social security proof was the stub the SS card came with and it wasn't approved either.

I've had a problem with my Effing F2 ever since I got it running, in that when I put the indicators (blinkers/flashers etc) on, the engine skips a beat, and has on several occasions blown both the lighting, and main fuse. This can be very exciting @ 60 MPH, during an overtaking move, so today I decided to sort it.

Spotty was nice enough to take the left side handlebar switch off the K7 or K8 that I have safely stored in his garage, but to my dismay, it has a different plug on it. No worries, a rat thru my Honda 750 electrics tub located another switch for an F2. No idea where it came from, but I was happy to have it. I swapped them out, and was 'rapt that everything worked perfectly. I unplugged all the old wires and plugged them back into the new switch, turned the ignition on, and fired it up. Apart from petrol pissing out of #1 and 2 carbs that didn't stop when I tapped the float bowls with a wrench, it fired right up. I put the blinkers on and no issues with the engine like before, nor did it blow any fuses.

F2 switchblock by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Sweet. I decided to disconnect the accessory light switch (it has the "American" throttle/switch with no headlight on/off switch, annoyingly) and volt meter that I'd installed as I've decided to sell the F2 and the new buyer probably won't want them, and they are not connected to any wires to the left hand switch anyway. I turned the ignition back on, and nada. Not a fcuking thing. By this stage it was getting late, so I just left it as is, and walked away. I'll go back tomorrow and sort it when I'm not so pissed off. ;D

I feel so sorry for you poor buggers in the US, all politics aside, you weren't looked after in the last 12 months, and the folks in charge back then should hang their heads in shame. (or better still, be hung) We are gutted that just over 900 folks total died here unnecessarily in Oz, while 4000 a day are dying in the US, it's a bloody tragedy.

But, as they say, it is what it is. What pisses me off today is that it was so hot (over 100 deg F) that I cowered inside my home under the swamp cooler duct until the cool change came thru, before re-connecting every electrical connection in my headlight bucket (after swapping the F2's useless shallow bucket for a K2 bucket) and (thanks God) everything works as it should. I turned the fuel on, and gas pissed out of #2 carb, all over the driveway.

No amount of tapping the carb with a shifter would stop the fuel pissing out, so I guess I'm gonna have to pull the airbox, throttle cables and carbs to sort this out, even though I rebuilt them with all new carb kits, including fuel needles. I installed an inline fuel filter too, so there should be no reason why the float is sticking, but there you go, I haven't ridden it since before Christmas, and something is fcuking with the carbs, which sucks balls. ;D

Can you not reach all the foot related components with crabs on bike ?
You may want to machine a small plastic  replica of your float needle tip...to ream/clean the sealing surface...

Terry..... I had one carb that drove me nuts. Drooled regularly, for no apparent reason. Finally, I used a “Q Tip” (tiny cotton swab on a stick) and soaked it in a small blob of Autosol polish. Stuck it up in the needle seat (after dropping out the float and needle) and twirled around for a bit. Opened fuel and flushed with some dripping gas. Did the same with the needle tip by spinning it in a drop of Autosol on a soft cloth. Problem solved!

P.S. not sure if you have Autosol? German alloy polish, comes in a toothpaste size tube. Extremely fine, white polish, flows out like toothpaste.

Thanks guys, these carbs are in absolutely mint condition, the ones that were on it were badly corroded from being parked for 10 years in salt air so I swapped them out for the current ones.

They came in a box of other carbs I scored from Spotty when I swapped my ZZR1100 for his K7. They'd been disassembled so I used the best float bowls, floats, slides etc, and installed new kits in them, but I'll pull them again and check for all of those possible problems. It's not just dribbling out, it's absolutely pissing out, which makes me wonder if one of the floats is hanging up in the float bowl.

Yep I think I've got a tube of Autosol here John, I used to use it to polish the brass hardware on my ceremonial uniform, so I'm sure there's a tube here somewhere. Now that I've finally sorted out the electrics, I'd really like to take it for another ride, while I decide whether I'll keep it, or sell it to finance the K1 build. I hate selling bikes, and I really do like the F2, so it's gonna be a mental battle...... and that pisses me off. ;D

Not having carburetors on my bike is kinda pissing me off.

Fuel injected whizz bang still in the shop.  Still refuses to maintain an idle.

The computer code reader is no help in solving the mystery.

Sittin here like.  This would have taken less than an hour to fix on the old CB.

Awesome, clean the idle jets and bobs your uncle.

Yes as mentioned  before, float tang can be out of plane with the pivot..... this is pretty easy to do trying toadjust float level on the bike.. it then can cause things to hang up or get slightly cocked..
 I would check that..
