I have a Toyota Landcruiser that I don't drive on a regular basis.
I lent the truck to my son in law while he was geting his truck repaired, so decided to upgrade my roadside assistance insurance. Only to find out that it was not registered.

Apparently the registration was cancelled ten months ago because my third-party insurance was not current.
How I didn't get busted has got me flummoxed as all cop car's have number plate recognition tech these day's.
I should probably explain how my rego works.
Because I receive a cripples pension I do not have to pay for registration. I do however have to pay for third party insurance and a roadworthy certificate each year.
After they are done the rego is processed automatically.
Anywho, by this stage the truck is already three hours away being driven to work by my son in law.
So down I go to my local RMS to sort it out, only to be told I need to reregister the truck from scratch.
To cut a long story short I. I reregistered the truck with the help of my stepson (he's a licensed motor vehicle inspector)
As it turned out I had paid my third party insurance but due to some glitch or other the policy was not submitted to the RMS. So the rego was cancelled without either the insurance company or RMS notifying me.

That is not why I'm pissed off. I'm pissed of because it was considered a new registration and the trucks original number plates where cancelled.
My father brought his first new car in 1969 and the plates from that car have been in our family since then, assigned to one vehicle after another for over fifty years. So because of an insurance company fcukup and a government agency that doesn't give a #$%* I have lost (for the time being) a treasured piece of family history.
THAT'S WHY I'M PISSED OFF!
