I know this pales in comparison to the loss of a finger but an accident with a table saw a few years back resulted in a very deep cut to the very tip of my middle finger. My darling Wifes response, "More stiches, you should be eligible for a discount this trip".   Yes a little accident prone at times.  Arrived at the emergency and the Doctor was very candid about applying the stiches when he informed me it would probably hurt more to num the finger tip than the application of the actual stiches to close the wound.  We went for it and to this day I am pretty sure that SOB lied to me......

many years ago i slashed the palm of my left hand while bottling beer, straight to the doctor ( which in itself is unusual for me ) and she told me the same thing, i believe she lied too, it was just punishment for my own stupidity.
anyway fast forward about half an hour, got on my vespa to go pick up my girlfriend, pulled the clutch in, twisted the hand grip to put it in gear and ripped all the stitches out, still went to pick up Brigid, arrived with my left arm covered in blood and most of the side of the scooter, she declined the offer of hopping on the back as she had no desire to arrive home covered in my blood, smart girl

another one was after i punched in the window of a pub ( it was yellow and annoyed my exceptionally drunk self ), didn't notice the cuts on my arm so went on my way, wasn't until i got on a tram and it emptied pretty right away, looked down and realised i was covered in my own blood from chest to feet, ended up in hospital after a few more adventures and they said i was way too drunk to use anaesthetic so having gone though the above i declined their kind offer to stitch me up there and then. Went to a local doctors when i sobered up a couple of days later and he said it was too late to stitch it as it had started healing. There were many more adventures that night but thats for another day, suffice to say the police got involved at one point and i had to quit my job on the monday morning ( the pub was next door to work and they knew who i was...so basically i did a runner )

still have all the scars from both incidents which have just added to the rich tapestry that is my epidermal layer
i blame Terry

I got a small injury recently, but it reminded me how easy an injury can come. I put new rotors on my GS1100E and had a clearance issue, the rotor buttons were clicking on the inside center edge of the pad material. Anyway, I was holding the pad in place while turning the wheel, (it was fixed) somehow the pad leaned out and my finger went between the pad and a spoke of the wheel. I sliced a corner of my right ring finger next to the fingernail. I was able to tape it back into place and get some Neosporin on it. Surprisingly, it re-attached. Could have been a lot worse but it happened quick and I was convinced that I was being careful. It was a wake-up for sure.

We were coming home from the last drag race of the year and the trailer had a blow-out, the tire was cut from tread to bead, not sure what I ran over. Anyway, a State trooper stopped as we were changing the tire, he called in who he was assisting and then asked me if I was OK. I thought he was referring to have you been drinking, no, I've seen too many cop videos, he had noticed the stream of blood running down my arm from the cut caused by the tire cords sticking out everywhere. Any no, I was not aware at all.

Don, I class those type of cuts as leaks, it isn't an injury unless you "feel" it happen.

I can agree to the "leak" classification, later there didn't even seem to be a wound. I did tell the officer thanks, I'm just old and thin skinned.
