Yeah Scott, to the best of my knowledge they did refund the fines. That must have pissed them off........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

About 30 odd years ago when I was working at Darwin Brakes, we had this young fella there who was like the workshop roustabout.

Johnny Stevens his name was and he was only about 13 or 14 years old.
Anyway, Johnny REFUSED to go to school so we said his Mum that we'd give him a job and look after him so that he didn't end up being a ratbag kid on the streets.

He was a keen young fella and did what he was asked to do.

As time went by, the office ladies niece got sent up here because she was in her late teens and apparently was running amok a bit and needed a bit of direction as well.

Her name was Vicki and she wasn't a bad looka.
Of course, all of the boys in the workshop were sniffin' around like mongrol dogs hoping to score.   :D

Well much to their dissapointment, the word got out that young Johnny  had beaten them all to the target and was slippin' her a length.

That pissed 'em off.  ;D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Geez, I was so upset that I'd misread Brian's instructions and upset him that I forgot how pissed off I am today! Here's a letter that I wrote to the editor of the Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper this afternoon:

"I'm as mad as hell. Last year, I fell foul of the notorious Wellington Road speed camera's on Eastlink.

It pisses me off that I was stupid enough to stand up under the cab of a truck today and put a 2" split in the top of my head.  I caught my head on the edge of the front guard, blacked out briefly and woke up just before I cracked the back of my head on the concrete.  I was silly enough to continue working for the rest of the day.  Then spent over 2 hours waiting at the hospital for them to glue up my head, which took all of 5 minutes.  :-\

Where I used to work they put GPS in the trucks. If you drive too fast your phone rings and you get a lecture. No problem for me, I never speed on company time. They also check you at lunch time to see where you are. Big brother is here.

Same with me Don, because I had 3 traffic infringements last year, (two of which I wasn't convicted for) when I received my new Ford Ranger company truck in December, it was fitted with a GPS tracker.

To be fair, it gives me a warning beep if I exceed the speed limit by 20 Kph (12 MPH) before it sends a message to my boss that I'm speeding, so as long as I slow down, there's no problem. It also can track where I am and where I've been, (and when) which pisses me off.

Of course, anything that your employer pays thousands of dollars to install and monitor can be defeated by a device made by a clever Chinaman, which retails for $25 with free shipping. It blocks the 3 signals that the GPS device relies on, rendering it useless. Of course I would never use one of these devices myself, but I just thought I'd let you know that Big Brother doesn't always win.

Oh, and for some reason it appears that the company I work for has abandoned the GPS tracking device installation program, and apparently switched mine off, something about "reliability issues"? Cheers, Terry. ;D

WELL GO $*$*# YOURSELF MI. It trully annoys me that for this bike, I had to pay a $190 MCCA fee, and then another $65 at SOS to register it.

If this isn't a form of absurdly unfair taxation, I don't know what is. Say what you will about NJ, but at least the fees down there are reasonable..

I think someone even through some sort of event involving tea...

But from what I can tell, this MCCA fee was est. to insure people who didn't have enough insurance for medical benefits. So the good news, if your in MI you're covered for med costs. The bad news? This won't cover motorcyclists, only auto drivers.

So MC riders pay the fee, but can't use it. I.e, its a bs tax.

Hmmnnnn, not wanting to piss you off further Mo, but I think that you might be incorrect. I've just read about the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) fee, and I can't see anything that says that it doesn't cover motorcycle riders.

http://carinsurance.about.com/od/PolicyFundamentals/a/What-Is-A-Michigan-Catastrophic-Claims-Association-Fee.htm

It is a bit stupid that it only covers you for injuries exceeding $500K though, so you need to pay for 2 lots of insurance, one that covers you up to $500K and another that covers you for injuries over $500K, but then again, your insurance system confuses me anyway.

Over here on my end of the pond we have compulsory personal injury insurance that is part of our annual registration fee, and it covers us for personal injuries from $0 to an unlimited amount. Our "insurance" that is not compulsory is for collision damage only, and covers both the policy holder and any other vehicles involved, depending on who was at fault.

Some folks have it, a lot don't, it is expensive if you're a young guy on a new crotch-rocket (crash risk) or Harley (theft risk) but the good thing if you're an old fart like me, insurance is relatively cheap, especially if your bikes are old clunkers like ours. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Should have clarified. If its with another insured motor vehicle, they are covered. If not, they are not covered. Insured motor vehicles are always covered.

Had a coupla beers with ol' mate Laurie tonight who's me neighbour.
About 12 or so years ago, he had a liver transplant and he's been back and forth between Melbourne & Darwin for various medical things to keep him alive.

So after Xmas he's going back to Melb for 10 months while they try out this new drug that's just been released from the States to deal with some gene abnormality.

He talked a lot about dying which was a bit of a piss off.
He isn't scared off it but even still, it blows ya head a bit.

I suppose that the good thing is that he really doesn't give a fcuk and he's giving it a go..

If his Doc found out that he had a coupla cans of beer tonight, he'd be pissed of with Laurie.  ;D

what the #$%* do you got this thing for then ?  it is not for looking at or for slow cool guy cruz its for scaring the #$%* out of me.

Hey Tom, what is that "Thing" you're riding mate? If I'm holding my Cafe Racer flat out in top gear it's probably doing in excess of 140 MPH, and I can't ride it very far like that because there are too many intersections, traffic lights, peoples driveways, errant Kangaroo's etc.

Holding it flat out in first or second gear for 10 or 15 minutes at a time would probably make it miss and fart, the red line on the tach was put there for a reason, and that was to tell you to either change gear or slow down, lest you blow your engine up.

I like to scare the schidt out of myself on every bike I ride too mate, it's part of the fun, but I have what I like to call "Mechanical Sympathy", where I try not to intentionally destroy my engine (although I've destroyed a couple un-intentionally through my own ignorance) because as much as they're relatively cheap to rebuild if you do the work yourself, it's not always convenient to rebuild your engine on a regular basis.

I know that you love to scare yourself while riding though, so, rather than suggest that you either change gear or just slow down (boring..........) I've come up with some alternatives for you, to maintain that "skid marks in your undies" sensation whenever you go for a ride:

1. Brakes are for wimps, so only use them to steady your bike when you move it around the garage. Any other time, rather than slowing down when approaching slow moving traffic, maintain your speed and just dart around the cars and trucks at least twice as fast as traffic is moving. Remember, the gap between rows of slow moving cars and trucks is your freeway.

2. Tread on your tires is like Obama-Care, unnecessary and expensive. Ride those old cracked and bald tires like you stole them, especially on wet and icy roads. In summer, bald tires actually stick pretty well ("Ghetto Slicks") so to maintain your excitement, give them a daily coat of your favorite sump-oil to keep the "Fear Factor" at it's peak.

3. A game of chicken never hurt anyone. It's much more exciting than trying to make your pet cat blink, so just line up a car or truck, and see how long you can head straight for him, before he swerves out of your way. Zimple.

4. Racism games. Unlike Oz, you have a large population of black people who get really sensitive when you call them names starting with "N". This is a great way to start the game, simply ride up beside a car filled with gang-bangers, and call them all names starting with "N". That should both excite and frighten you, and test your skills at the same time as they chase you all over town with their guns a'blazing.

5. Insulting big white boys. Similar to 4., drive up to the nearest large white man in his pickup truck or muscle car, and tell him that Obama has saved America, and that Country Music is gay. Once again, the end result will be an exciting ride, and you'll be forgiven if you do occasionally over-rev your engine. Try not to miss a gear though, especially if you've got a Chevy pickup's bumper only inches from your rear fender.

That should be enough to keep you going for now Tom, there are lots more ways of having a scary fun ride without risking permanent damage to your engine, if not perhaps, your own body. Make sure you fill out your organ donor card, just in case there are some organs that are still in a serviceable condition, should you inadvertantly convert yourself into a big red mark on the road. Which I guess, would piss you off............. ;D
