The rule of thumb is 0.004" end gap per inch of bore. 0.010-0.012" should be good.

Cool. Thanks!

Can anyone chime in with regards to the head gasket size/brand they used for the big bore kit?

It comes with a head gasket when you order the piston kit. You may have to email the seller of the kits on ebay.

Bumpity.
Has anyone had any pearls of wisdom to report about these 550 kits lately? I may doing it myself if I can find some current positive feedback.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Same as the 836 kits that Hondaman has installed in a few bikes...the consensus is that they're good!

I've had ZERO issues with my setup using stock valves and stock cam shaft. The pistons are the same height as stock pistons just a larger diameter.

I've never heard anything bad about any of the Cruizinimage Big Bore kits. I have one on my CB400f (466)

They have had 6500 transactions in the last 12 months with 19 negative feedbacks, none of them for big bore kits. I think they are safe.
I had to laugh at one neutral feedback where the buyer bought a Suzuki piston with rings and pin. He was pissed because the picture looked like a "steel" piston and it turned out to be "cast crap metal". I wonder if he'd have been happier with a steel piston. :o
Out of 20 neutral feedbacks one was for a CB900 BB kit but the reply was in French "Qualite' Chinoise" (Quality Sieve)?

HondaMan mentions a lttle clean up work needed to relieve sharp edges on the pistons from CruisinImage.  Otherwise quality is good.  Idon't know anyone whom has mentioned it.  It is not the high compression kit from Dynoman...those are better quality but far more expensive...Often you get what you pay for. The CruisinImage kits are of great value and good quality.

I doubt they bump the compression up, they could  actually send it down, but not significantly.
You will develop more power from the bike having a bump in compression alone...just have to deal with a high compression motor's tuning and carb jetting areas to address.

Hi all,

Sorry to bring this topic back up. My cilinders are being bored as we speak, for this kit.

What is the clearance I should use between piston & cilinder ? In MM if possible ( I'm from Europe)

Thanks guys,
Brgds,
Elias

Just starting the second summer on my rebuild.
I didn't use the rings or liners that came with the kit.
At the same time I installed a 650 cam and primary tensioner.Stock rejetted carbs and race baffle.
There has been no downside so far and an instantly noticeable increase in acceleration and roll on power.
And she sounds glorious. 8)

Previous pages list this...
In inch measurements the piston/cylinder clearance quote was  .0012-.0015"
In MM the quote is... piston / cylinder clearance   0,030 - 0,038 mm
