Hey he's cheating ^^^ that's the wrong tank  ;D  I like the flag on the rear brake that's a cool detail.  What's goin on inside that beast?

Not so much lately.  The engine is out to paint the cases and replace leaking gaskets.  The front is being swapped out to a GL1000.  The engine is an 836 but otherwise fairly stock.

Here's mine. (Took me a long while to find a jacket that [to me] fits the bike.)

The second picture (packed as a mule) is actually the most fresh one. Only changes are the mirros and the visor on the headlight.

  Hi nikcorg
Did the 77's in Finland come with the 76 front fender?

I wouldn't know. Also, this one was imported from Sweden a few years back. (Not by me.) Why do you ask?

Edit.

Here's one I owned for a week, before it was stolen.  :'(

I was just wondering the US 77/78 K's bikes had shorter front fenders. I find it interesting to see the market differences.

I love the K7 and K8 models ! I bought 2 of them new in 78 and K8 #3 in 2008 . The first one I crashed hard enough to knock the cylinders loose from the cases, broke the frame, forks, clocks ,front wheel, just really destoyed it!It flipped end over end after hitting a curb. I broke several bones but came out really well considering. Insurance paid off and I got #2 and made it into a hot rod ! I just found these old pics from back when and have decided to re-create my current bike to be like the black one in the photo. I'm not a big fan of the Witchey style seat I have except that it matches the 7-8 tank perfectly. I'm searching for a Ness style Digger fender, I remember paying $25. bucks for the one in the pic with the Lucas style light included !
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Great old pics george, where did you get that seat by the way. How do you like those shocks you have on the rear? Are they the same ones that are all over Ebay for $100 and change?

Thanks , I wish I could find more of the old pics, my Dad just passed and my sister found these in his attic! Those e-bay shocks are pretty , that's about it IMHO, I now weigh about 220 and they are still very stiff, virtualy no dampening, I even let all the air out of them, get alot of wheel hop if hard on the rear brake . Which seat are you looking at ? Upholstery seems to baffle me !

What color part of the seat are you talking about?  The black, blue or white part?  :P

If it is the white part, you gotta ask motocyconomad.  I am sure george knows too but motocyconomad's monkey butt needed lots of assistance!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

george, your Mad Max bike was the inspiration I got for the "Beans" build I was going to do, with a Witchey seat ( I bought for $140).  I lost interest in bikes a while back so Beans and all three other bikes just sit now.  Why, i have no flippin' idea.

The black part is fiberglass, The Blue part was my 'ol lady's gardening knee pad , The white was a damn doggie bed Tommy bought when his ass just couldn't take anymore ! I have never done well with seats!!!

I suffer from back pain and don't ride as much as I would like too, I know what you mean about losing interest, I go take mine out and it gets me revved up again, and after getting all these old pics from my sister I have decided to re-do my bike in the image and style of the black one above. That was my first build and it was a true pleasure to ride, plus I was in my early - mid 20's ! Go take a ride and juice will flow again, it always perks me right up !

George - although we don't know you, Really? And I know your bike! We were with Tommy in Marble Falls when he bought the doggy bed for your seat! Your bike runs great, Tommy blew by me when I was doing the ton on the way to Frederiskburg!!
You guys need to come to the Austin area in April for the Rally.

Thanks Steve-O, Just say Tommy is a trip ! Obviously he is one of my best buds, like a son actually! Hell he even lives with me ! He does #$%* about his ass way too much!! That ol stock motor surprises me how well it does run, leaks everywhere though ! In the coming months I am rebuilding the 836 that ate a rocker 2 years back and cleaning and painting up the Hell #$%*. She's ready to ride now, except for tires, I would love to come up in April, I'll get Tommy focused now so he'll be ready !

Good to know about the shocks, I meant the Witchey seat pan/rear cowl deal. where did you get it from? Does it attach with the stock hinges and lock?

I no longer have seat mounts on my frame , but it could be adapted say with plywood. Lyle Witchey is a member here, sells them on e-bay.http://stores.ebay.com/Witcheys-Creations?_rdc=1.html

Ha giving our 78's some love! Gotta love that!

Mine is in pieces right now about to be reassembled, but this is what she did look like:

Never had the joy of riding her or even listening to her run. First time will be in April when she's all done. :) Beautiful rides you guys have. Can't wait to add mine to the road too!

my favorite sohc4 bike ever is a 78—

That being said, my girl works with a cat who has a 78 750, and would trade me for my 76 550 in a heartbeat. If i hadn't poured so much work into it, I would.
