You might contact these guys. I was very happy with the ceramic coating they did for me. I agree with others. Way to much money. Ship it out, wait, be happy.

Tell him to pound sand, that's nuts. Prices are all over the board but I never heard of anything that high. I didn't powdercoat my engine but I did my frame, swing arm, and associated mounts and it was under $150, and that was with them sand blasting it as well. I did have quotes up to $500, but I couldn't be happier with the way mine turned out.

Never had anything done either. But interested in some pricing.

Freaky1 did you have yours done at Blue Flame I think off Dartmouth ?

Paul

Pristine Powder coating, guy's name is Lee, over off of Kalamath just south of Sports Authority corporate.

I read in an issue of The Horse where they tested "proper" powder coating and it actually helped dissipate heat. I've never done it, seen stuff that looked like crap though, and I think it makes sense. Plus, after using several different types of paint and several different methods of prep and curing, I'll be powder coating the lower half from now on. Why you ask? The junk that comes out of gas pumps these days hates paint.

Coming from someone that lives in Hawaii, I can tell you that price is outrageous.

I paid about 250. This was for the cylinder, head, valve cover, All the little things (end covers, breather cover, tappet covers, etc) Also had my valves and pistons thermal coated and anti friction coated in the process. Also it was two different colors. Powder-coating has become so common that prices have come down a lot. The material costs little to nothing, the price is mostly in the labor.

I plan to do a lot of my own stuff next time, smaller stuff like covers, caps, and mounts.

I would love to PC the engine in my new project.  Powdercoat is much easier to clean than polished surfaces and stands up better to gasoline and oil spilled and baked on to lower cases.

It was a mix of two shops. It's a really long story but the finished bike came from coast to coast powdercoating. one shop started it with colors at the advice of an employee to match my ideas. i had to switch shops midway thru and matched the colors from nic industries prismatic website and had them order in the powders. Came out great.

Sorry to get off topic, but Red Good, where did you go in Tulsa? I've been googling around, but haven't called anybody yet.

The guy in Tulsa was really not happy in the end . Quoted and stuck to it but told me he would never do anything that cheap again . Broken Arrow Powdercoat

They look like they specialize in trailer loads of stuff at a  time .

I have since dealt with a guy in Muskogee and his finish is way nicer and still reasonable .Sent him pics for the quote and mailed it in  and he mailed it back in good time . I am about to use him again .
