Ever seen a dog trying to avoid being humped by another? That is what that bike reminds me of.

Different personalities like different things?

Actually it is about astrology.

There are also people who just are not mechanically inclined.

A persons sense of beauty is very different from another person.
I won't get into the astrology but for some people if it is a functioning
bike to them it is beautiful even though they did not
cut off the exteraneous tabs etc.,. Or they cut off tabs
but did dot sand the stubs down.

For others born at another time, every detail must be finished,
every tab removed and sanded down, all edges fitting with
 another part etc.,. Very detailed.

Rat bikes:
Just a sloppy way to get a quick result.
And you will notice that all the rat bikes are flat black.
 Usually not any other color.
A rat bike may be in perfect running condition, even though it looks like it would not run at all.

Gloss black would be faster as the smoother finish would have less drag. Aircraft in WW2 saw an increase in top speed when they went from flat camo paint to polished aluminum. Part was from weight reduction and mostly from less skin friction.

Gloss black is absolutely faster.

Well, there's mine for everyone to slam if they so choose.

Here's my thoughts on it:  Maybe upside down clubman bars are in poor taste, but I like how they look and I like the riding position ergonomically speaking.  No, not everything on my bike is polished and perfect, but I never wanted a motorcycle where every last piece was chromed, polished, and perfect.  Some of us want to be pro bike builders and land our #$%* on Bike EXIF, and some of us just want to build the bike we want to ride.

I'm in the latter category, and frankly my bike is 100% everything I've ever wanted in a motorcycle.  On top of that, every time I take it out someone stops me to ask what it is and to tell me how much they like it.  Women swoon, children want me to rev it at lights, it's fun.

I think I speak for lots of people when I say many of us are very turned off by the polished chrome everything world of HD riders and the OCC type builds.  In fact, had it not been for cafe style bikes and rat bikes I may have never gotten into riding at all.

Point being that while I can't excuse someone for not being adequately safe or ensuring that their bike is mechanically sound, beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder, and whether someone wants to chrome every last piece of their bike and ride in a V-crunch position, or put checkerboard contact paper on their gas tank, who the hell am I to judge?  I really, really love my bike, and that is all that really matters to me.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

You can tell by the the parts that he took off and the fact that it had only 3600 miles that this was a nice bike until it fell into the wrong hands.

Nah he has a GSX450. I built him a set of Z-bars.

When he came over to watch me weld them up my comment was "You know these bars won't steer for $#$%* right?"

His comment was "yeah, but they look cool"

The bars aren't on his bike anymore.

He was by yesterday....talking about buying a used tyre for $25.

I said "great, its got to be better than the one you have now, but if theres only 25% tread left you're not saving any money. Go buy a decent tyre before you hurt yourself"

found this one in the local CL http://tricities.craigslist.org/mcy/3955733730.html

Honestly, I don't think it is that bad.  Not wild about the handlebars and those side covers are ugly as sin though and i have no idea why people do that.  Price doesn't seem ridiculously far off assuming a title is included and it is running as described.

If we're just posting stuff we've found on Craigslist now, I'll throw this out there:
http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/3948835812.html
Looks pretty nice to me, he's been trying to sell it for awhile and it looks like he might be a bit high... for this area anyway.

I guess they're all worth 3k:

Here's one for you restoration folks, disgusting:

This makes your 360 look good:

And this... I aint gonna lie... I might go buy this but the graphics and paint is fugly, that would be top on my list of things to redo:

Speaking of Cafe builds did you see the 77 550 over on the for sale forum listed by Gorms that closed out on ebay @ 6100 bucks?  Its a July 24th listing.  Looked like a class job but I have sticker shock!
