And we went at it again today!
We started with me stripping paint off the braket and frame for a ground...
Put it all back together
Put the new clutch cable on the engine and the cover on
Put the brake switch in, and got everything ready that we could for the break parts
We headed to the shop and started to work on mounting the tail light. Universal sport tail light my ass! We had to redrill the holes in the unit, cut out a piece in the gasket, find bolts that were actually long enough etc... what a PITA.
This was hilarious! I had to take the entire unit apart the remove the protective plastic that wasn't removed before they put the unit together. Whatever happened to quality control?
Almost there with the light
And our own little PITA is finally done!
We also cut the break lever at the shop, then double checked the length at home. I do not have feet that are 2 feet long. Couldn't believe how long the lever was. LOL We will weld it, prime and paint it later
Got the kicker on...
We got the tank on but not without some head scratching .. We had reversed the rubber mounts between the battery box and the oil pan. Until we figured that out it was just a mess. LOL Then trying to tighten the nuts on the oil lines was messy too. This took us a good hour or more, but it's done!
This is where she sits now...
The tank still isn't actually dry. The paint gooed up and rubbed off all over the not finished seat. Called my Dad for some advice. Guess when I got the paint made they left a few things out. It won't dry. We have to get new paint, strip and paint it again. Not impressed. I'm going to get my paint from somewhere else, as the shop I got it from kept telling me to just wait and turn up the heat. How long do you wait? It's been a month. UGH. Oh well repaint is what we are stuck doing!
That's it for today. We'll see what happens tomorrow!
