Is the front wheel in temporarily? Seem to remember the disc being on the other side?

Hah! Yeah I am a goose, it had twin discs when I got it, lucky you mentioned it. I would have been annoyed later. Thanks mate. Always take your book outside to the garage to reference..

Did some inside work tonight. The PO of my bike had left the bike outside with a cracked speedo glass. Over time this filled with water and the internals got quite rusty. I opened them both up to lube and inspect and the speedo would not turn. In the meantime I ordered new faces, and a later K2 - K7 speedo. I swapped the internals over from the later speedo into the housing of the K1. I was surprised that they all fit so well and interchanged. New faces and used the better glass and surrounds from the other later speedos and they came out great.

Super stocked with the result.

Cap't - I am uncertain on 750s, but the long bolt in your picture resembles the upper motor hangar bolt on my 550/500s.

Regarding your lower engine mount bolts, a quick look at the parts fiche should indicate the proper length bolt for that position.

In my opinion, YES they are worth it. I have owned both. I replaced the Progressives with the IKONS. Suspension and brakes are the most important things on your bike.  If you are happy with the Progressives, great.

Progressives are not as good as the Ikons, they are more of a replacement shock than a performance shock, I know guys that race Honda/4's with Ikons and Hagons, don't know any that race with progressives.. You get what you pay for...

A bit more work, got the 290mm shocks from Cycle X on by changing the configuration of the bushings. Its low and firm, not sure how much fashion to put before function. Will ride them and see how it travels, the ikons etc seem like a nice upgrade.

I am going to try run it stock looking and mocked it up a bit. The seat is a bit lower than standard and I think I will just run the rear guard. I have some alloy café seat that looks ok but I might swap it out after I get it signed off by the transport authorities.



Put the carb airpods on it, oil tank and kicked some oil around it. will get the wiring circuit up to a starting level and go from there.



its actually looking quite ghetto, I do prefer it to look a bit like its been dug out from behind a dumpster..

Trying to get my head around this wiring. It sucks!!

I mostly just want to get it started and then go from there. There seems to be a heap of connections that don't seem to match up. The PO had repaired wires over the years and added changed things beyond stock so I dont really know what should go where. The wiring diagrams are a bit of a help but the replacement harness is not exactly matching up. 

One problem I am having is working out what this is? That cylindrical (aluminium) thing behind the coils. It looks factory, has 4 wires out, on the old bike one (Brown with red stripe)went to a red overspeed warning light the other came from a yellow wire that is only in a wrecked handlebar switch mechanism (not yellow with a red stripe) and the other two end up looped into each other. I can see this on any other bikes I have looked at photos of nor in any wiring diagrams. Is it because it is a Japanese bike?

Finally got enough stuff on it to get it started. I have a video which I will post up once I get it uploaded. I have two k1's and need to sell one, I prefer original/mostly stock looking bikes but i am resigned to the fact that one needs to be a cafe due to the parts I have. Here is a pic of it, I actually think it might be a bit of fun to ride around and be very hipster in my local city, might have to grow a beard and get some redwings.

Obviously some bits are missing, I just wanted to get her fired up, seemed like a big milestone then I can sort out the rest. Love the sound of the pipe.

Have been quietly working away. It is amazing how much you learn by working on these bikes. I am so glad I have a few other bikes in various states of array to steal parts from.

Carbs were a real pest to get set right. Its amazing how many times this forum combined with Hondamans book have helped.

Here it is as she sits. I still have to sort a few more things out to get rego. It is too loud so I baffled the sh!t out of the GPwerks pipe to quieten it down.

This is close to what it will look like, I have had to do some things for rego. Wish me luck to pass inspection and I will be on the road.
