F you mark...... F you.
Chaps leave the crotch and ass uncovered and have zero padding/CS-rated armour so if you crash on your bike you will get road-rash ass. Better off with a pair of proper leather trousers. Andy
Although I've never slid on pavement, I'd imagine if your crotch is in a position to receive road rash, you've got more serious problems. Your a$$, on the other hand...... But if you're anything like me, you could use a little less there.
But don't chaps leave the crotch uncovered?
Just for the record, since there seem to be some tender-foots and green-horns out there, chaps, pronounced shaps, were used by cowboys to protect their legs from chaparral, like scrub oak and manzanita.
Impact protection, not so much, but road rash? Priceless.
Looks like this is good time to buy chaps, prices are favorable in quite few internet stores, but do they work? Just by looking at it, I feel like indian chief Balls of Ice Do you wear chaps in winter and do you like them?
I recommend that you look for a set of cycling windfront tights for under your jeans. Like these: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1122920_-1_400066__400066. I have two sets for winter cycling, but they work great under jeans for riding on cold days. I used them Sunday when it was 48 degrees when we started riding.
First, Andy, all chaps are assless. That's what separates them from pants. And if you had read my first post in this thread, you'd see where I mentioned the possibility of grinding off some rump. I'll take that over loosing leg skin any day.
Chaps have nothing to do with image, really!
