By that you mean the police, military personnel, and government officials with ready access, correct? Are you a psychology professional? I can unequivocally state that I don't get cocky or irrational with my gun. Pride at hitting my target, yes, as anyone who has garnered a skill would. The tool does not corrupt the user. The user must be corrupt first, in order to intentionally misuse a tool.

Based on what? Have you read the studies published by Professor Gary Kleck? There are many times the number of guns doing good than doing harm. But, that doesn't usually make the evening news. I do wonder why that is.

Numbers also support that acquaintances do most of the raping too. About the only crime largely attributed to random acts by strangers is burglary/larceny.

Besides even that, mugger/rapist don't call out to you from down the block. Hey, excuse me, yeah you there, yeah you I'm gonna mug you. No, they walk up, punch you in the face and take your stuff. Fight, get punched again and again. Gun use requires space to get a shot off, that's another fact.
So, you think it impossible to develop situational awareness, be prepared, and ready, so we might as well just give up and be subjected to any harm that finds us?

A lot of those guns used illegally were stolen from legal carriers. U.S. keeps getting more guns and crime rate just gets worse and worse. Hope you feel safe
Ah, getting your data and catch phrases from the liberal media, I see.
I suggest you get your "facts" from a more reliable source. True, the US gun population grows every year. But the crime rate has been going down steadily since 1991. If your proposal is that more guns equal more crime, and in fact more guns enter the population each year, how could it be that crime actually becomes reduced each year?

Bear in mind that there are now an estimated 310,000,000 privately owned guns in the U.S., and about 3 million are added each year. Still, the crime rate reduces. How can anyone reasonably state that guns in and of themselves cause crime?
To me, it seems that the actual data shows more guns equal less crime.
