I knew this kitchen would come in handy someday! When the wife is away the kid must "spray".  ;)
Make sure all the evidence is out of the kitchen before the boss(I mean wife) gets home Johnie or the kid might be sleeping in the garage with the CB's ;D

Took the tank badges and put them in some old Gumout carb cleaner. The paint just fell off in sheets. That was easy. Time to paint these in the OEM flat black. Will use a small model brush and some model paint. Worked well on the other badge sets I have done. I will put up more pics when done.

I did mine just a little different Johnie because my hand is not that steady to use a brush in that small area and figured it would take less time and just work better for me. Not OEM but used a can of flat black spray paint and covered the entire nameplates with paint. When the completely dried took my pocket knife and gently scraped the paint off the area on the nameplates(by looking a pics) that needed to be bright.

Moving right along...got the master and caliper rebuilt today. The caliper piston was in suprisingly great condition. Not ready to install the brakes yet, but I think I am procrastinating on polishing the fork legs :) Polishing is not one of my favorite tasks...but the show must go on. Need one more coat of paint on the black items and then I suppose I have to start the polishing...

I saw what a nice job you did on your other badges and stator cover (fine tip marker) so I went and got the paint and brushes and tried it myself last summer.  Found out it takes a lot of patience to get them looking as good as yours does. That task gets a guy as nervous as a narcoleptic bomb diffuser with tourette's syndrome, so now I get to see if I can at least strip my badges as good as you.   Nice work on your bike!

Thanks Mike...my other KO tank badges turned out real nice with the flat black. For some reason this time using enamel they did not turn out to my liking. So I stripped them again and instead taped off the chrome and sprayed them. Still need to remove the tape and clean them up. Will post a pic when I get them ready.

As noted above, I was not happy with the hand painting of the badges so striped them again and started over...only this time I used the flat black spray. The picture shows the bottom badge done. The top one in the pic I still need to remove the paint along the HONDA edging. I am much more pleased with the spray and will do that next time too.

Badges look great Johnie!

Don't know if you were planning to add the white as well, and you may already be familiar with it, but one method you might try is to use a fine brush (like a model brush) to paint on a mask over the black you wish to keep.  Then spray on the white, remove the mask & you are done  Worked well when I did redid my badges.  Be liberal in application of the mask. 2 coats can't hurt, it comes off easier that way.

Just a tip for those who haven't come across this stuff.  Most model shops should have it.  Hope it helps.

Love the free hand welds on your rear wheel picture above!  You can imagine the factory buzz at that time, trying to crank out as many as possible, as fast as possible.  Quick weld and move on. ;D

Yeah Jerry after seeing the pic of the welds on Johnie's low #KO got curious and went out and looked at the welds in the same area on my 4/70 KO and they look about the same.

Those welds do show a time when Honda just could not produce the 750's fast enough. More people were crying for them and they had to churn and burn at the factory to get them out ASAP.

If you can't find it locally or want to just order it, Tower Hobbies is a great go-to. They'll have the tiny model brushes as well.

UPDATE: Here are some before and after pics of the fork legs. Pleased with how they turned out. Will install the new seals and then have to wait for the fork ears from the painter. New front tire is on the rim and the wheel is ready to install. Ordered some new gauge covers & faces from LeCram. The current ones have cracks. Not sure if I will change out the faces as the OEMs are really nice. No warping and the only issue is fading on the tach orange zone.
