Yeah, I know it will be easier to just throw that air box on but I'm a go getter and i can do plug chops and check them to see if it's lean or rich or whatever. I have a diagram on different plug diagnostics and all of that which is pretty helpful
here -> http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html

I kinda want to get all the hard stuff out of the way since I can't legally ride it yet. I have some time on my side so far. I'm going to give it a shot but I won't give up.

Thanks Bill! I'll get it going!

Andrew,
It'll be a lot easier to do once the weather gets into the 70's and the humidity dries up,the carb. jetting I mean.  ;)

I'm sure it will be easier once it gets nice out. All I'm hearing right now is a bunch of rice rockets flying down the road over and over again. It's like I need to get this beast done! Tonight I put the new points and condensers on, adjusted them and bench sync'd my carbs again because they were a little off. I took a video of how my exhaust sounded this morning before I did any of the above mentioned stuff so I'm curious to see what changes happened since I adjusted/replaced anything. I might just put the video on YouTube and put a link up or something.
It's interesting working outside and it actually being nice out. I just love the way she's starting to look now. I also noticed I have the slightest leak on either side of the top of my motor. Is that gasket hard to change? I just hope I don't have to remove the motor. Maybe a little ultra black will help as a temporary solution until I get more money.

Here's a clip of the way my exhaust sounds. It still needs tuned and I replaced my points, condensers, and rebench sync'd the carbs. I hope this is what you were looking for. My first YouTube upload.

So today I finally decided to get my motorcycle permit and signed up for the motorcycle safety course. It lowers your insurance and basically goes over the riders handbook and when you're done with that you get a license and it's free.  Did you guys like the video of my exhaust? I know it was short but I just wanted feed back on how it sounded.

http://youtu.be/TA4AV7cUsiY

Thanks guys! A pretty good day so far. I haven't worked on the bike the past few days because of freezing weather and rain and slush. I'll get back to it again soon.

Sounds good. It'll sound even better once the carbs are dialed in.

Good move on the MSF course. It pays for itself in savings to your premiums and is much better than testing at the DMV.

I would rather take the course, take the riding test and lower my insurance. My sister and I are going to see who gets their license first but she lives in Orange which is about 30 minutes from your area and it the DMV's in California are a nightmare! Luckily I took my drivers test in Fullerton.

Once I send out to get my bike registered this week I should be pretty good to go and actually ride it without fear of getting pulled over and so I can get it running right.

I got in contact with   http://www.motorecyclenow.com     And they say they can get it registered for me so that's the plan. This next week I'm getting all the paperwork started and sent out. She'll get there. I finally got paid for my side job doing exhaust work so I'm pretty excited. It'll be around $215ish all in all. I'll def let all you folks know how it went once it's done.

Yes, pretty decent. They responded quickly and answered all my questions.
On another note:
I finally got my carbs slightly better and actually idling way better. It's running a little rich but that's much better than lean. I should toss in my #80 main jets though but I wanted to get it to idle correctly and sync'd before I start messing with anything else. I need to adjust my throttle cable a little more down but it idles at 1300 which is nice.

Thanks for looking once again!

I pulled on the throttle and revved it up good and put my hand on the muffler to see how she was running while giving it a little gas. Fuel smelling blackness.

So today I threw in my 80 main jets and decided to see how she works and it seems like I need to move the needle up. I didn't rev it up too high because I didn't want to bug my neighbors but she's definitely running way smoother. This is running off the previous synchronization. YouTube video number 2 just for you guys.

When it warms up tomorrow(I HOPE !)you could take it for a plug chop w/ those #80's and then check your new spark plug color.

Plug chops aren't really available because of my street which has a cop driving down it every 5 minutes which sucks pretty damn bad. Riding without a plate or helmet or insurance in the city is just asking for a impound. Uggg! Why don't I live one street down where there is no cops!?!? Haha!

On the up side, I sent in my info for the titling company and they accepted it and started the paperwork so in about 3 weeks I'll have my plate and everything. I can't wait to see the color of the plugs though. I'm kinda excited.

I would rather be tuning the carbs instead of worrying about not being able to ride it. My work is finally paying off and I'm able to ride it soon. I still need to replace a few more things like the chain but I can do that later. It's a little stretched on one spot because it gets loose and tight at the same spot every revolution. Helmet is my number 1 priority though. Biltwell gringo is what I'm thinking.

Andrew,
The chain and sprockets wear as one,so it'd be good to replace them at the same time when you do them.

I know. I will replace both when I get a chance, I was just stating the fact my chain was stretched. I'm still trying to decide which sprocket sizes I want to go for. I'm not crazy into top speed over 80 but also don't want to be boggy down low. I still have a little time to figure it out but it's still bouncing around in my head.

A small update. I decided to get it over and done with but I mounted my seat finally and have a few little things left to do before I can start riding it and I'm still waiting on the plate also. Soon enough I'll be on the road and fine tuning the carbs. There's still a flat spot mid throttle but I'll sort that out soon enough. You might have heard it in my last video I posted.

Visiting my daughter in Pittsburgh and went to Big Jim's in four mile run (Saline St) and saw a three spot of bike under tarps on the street in front of the Russian Orthodox Church.  The 350-4 was uncovered.  Anybody on here own those bikes?

That wasn't me. I thanks bill, I'm excited to get it that much closer. I need to rig something up for my brake light and plate next and strap that battery down then I'll be good to go. I'm going to need a helmet but I got some leather so I'll be covered on that spot. Probably going to borrow a helmet from a coworker that has a few. I'm pretty excited though!
