Last test would be to pull the countershaft sprocket cover and look for some chain damage on the case but with those miles sounds like you are probably good. Get rid of that possible stock chain though QUICKLEY if you start driving it    ;)

Nice find!  I think the best part (aside from the low number) is that you get to paint it whatever color you want without feeling bad. :D  Is that faded candy blue green on the fork ears?

Dammit, was going to call on that a few days ago. The '68 750 and no photos in the ad raised a red flag for me. Been burned a few times hunting down misleading ads. Oh well

It was advertised as 1968 cb7500! When I saw the ad, I just had to email it and didn't expect much.  My original intention was that I had a job interview in near by area, and just happened that the CL poster replied to my email. So, pretty much killed two birds in one stone.  And I passes the first round of interview, so it was a good day yesterday.

Just like the music in Lego movie, life is awesome.... :)

You have plenty of nice findings over there, very often not much $$$ either.

I know one guy that has his registration paper alive for a Sandcast with low number he sold in parts many years ago. Waiting for a bike that match....

Dang,, I like plastic speedos, .... Got the tach in plastic too.?

Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but will check for you in the morning! :)

Tach housing is plastic, too! I thought they were metal housing.

That looks like a great find!  Low miles like that probably means mostly original parts, except that dang 16" rear!  IIRC, you'd have to choose blue/green or red to stay true to stock...I think candy gold came in about ten thousand bikes later.

Original color was indeed candy blue green, tank was chromed, airbox and light bucket were painted black, fork ears either swapped out or chromed

Does it have the original carbs(looks like) and wrinkle tank ? How are the pipes, HM300 or no number. Engine turning over and how many miles is it showing ?  OH so many questions  ;)  Nice find as it is an early one still.

4 cable carbs, wrinkled tank, hm300 in great shape with minimal surface rust here and there and underneath look good, 4xxx miles! But speedo housing is black plastic?  Keep questions coming please!

It's passing the test so far. Engine kick over? Carbs not stuck?? Any electrics work after good battery installed???

Carbs 1 and 2 were gummed up from tank coat or old gas, but all freed up now! These 4 cables carbs are so easy to get to inside of them.  All electrics works, except push start button, was broke off, but I tried with screw driver to push it, nothing.  Probably wiring inside the control casing.

Spent an hour replacing push start button, hooked up the battery, all good and motor spins strong! Expecting a runner, but will hold off on installing good tank with clean gas; until I get the title from the owner.

What was the story was it was never ridden?

Bike was parked, last registered back in 1981, so that's a good 30 years, and i think it was attempted, some times between then and now, to get back on the road, but project failed? I opened the carbs earlier this afternoon and #3 and 4 were very clean, but #1 and 2 were totally opposite.

Talk about a half-assed cleaning!

I think what happened was that the carbs were cleaned when parked.  But tank got rusted over the years and got coated. New clear fuel line were installed.  Stuff from the tank got into the carbs, then inline filter were installed, a bit too late.

Anyways, carbs are taking a bath now, should be nice and clean tomorrow

The red sludge in the carbs look like mine old carbs that I parked 1990. The tank has more of it....real led fuel before the unleded green stuff.

I am sure you have read about it but be super careful with the carb mounting bracket as they are much more fragile than the later K1 and up carbs. Breaking that could make for a very bad day.

Got the carbs cleaned, floats set to 26mm, they were wayyyy off, and fortunately didn't break anything :) took whole afternoon to do this.
