I could see cooking the small stuff but the frame?  I'd need a whole refrigerator box...

I'm certain I should google this first, but, Is it possible to install new wires in the stock TEC coils?

I guess my second question is: The two coils I have are obviously originals. Which means if they even still work it'd be a miracle. Are there replacements that don't cost an arm and a leg? I shall google.

I've got 105/40 jets now. With the port/polish and big bore, am I going to need a bigger main jet?

At this point I'm looking at running a 2-1 on each side exhaust. I have no idea of it's origin. I'll grab some pics of the baffles in a minute.

Air box at this point. Maybe pods someday but from what I've seen, tuning Pods is a pain in the arse.

Trying to keep busy doing as much as o can without having to buy anything.

I lied about nothing shiny.

With the tree it was because I had a can of rustoleum around.

With the sidecovers...I didn't want to mess up original covers with paint, so I sanded to 1500 then did finish grade steel wool. They're not perfect, but better than they were.

Ravie video looks like you continue to make progress. The upper case came out pretty nice. When I tore my 550 apart the bottom gasket just wouldn't give. I ended up splitting the cases. Hey if you have any extra parts you can list on the for sale section to help fund your build. Also I would highly recommend waiting on the stock bearings in the neck. All balls are so much nicer. It really is one thing I do to all my bikes no matter if I plan to keep or sell.

Yeah, I've got another motor (hate to sell pieces of it but it might be necessary) that good stuff on it, as well as another fender and some other stuff. We shall see. I posted up a nice working vintage Swan HF radio today...hopefully someone uses Buy It Now and helps me out. haha

Ravie,

Spend a little money on All Balls steering bearings.  It's a safety upgrade that is worth the money.

Your original steering bearings can be made to perform just as good as new bearings.....as long as there are absolutely no tiny marks of any kind on the races or balls, you keep them properly greased, and you keep them properly adjusted.  The properly adjusted part is the #$%*.
If it works good, it looks good...

Screw the maintenance of the originals; upgrade to All Ballz and be done with it. Hence it is called an "upgrade".  ::)

hahaha. I don't think anyone disagrees with that. I'm just trying to budget!  (Though I have deleted a lot off my list that wasn't necessary, including a wiring harness, since the one I have seems to be ok.)

Here's my list of needs, as stripped down as I could get it:

The first list is everything that is in my Wishlist at DCC. The second are things I can get from wherever. (Tires will come from Bike Bandit)

Front Brake Pads
Copper Banjo Crush Washers
Rear Brake Shoes
Lower SS Brake Line
Hard Line
Speedo Cable
Tach Cable
Throttle Cables     (Yes, all of my cables were junk. All of them.)
Glass in-line Fuel Filter
Vent Hose
Front Sprocket (17)
Rear Sprocket (Original was 48, but I’m tempted to use a 46 for better in town torque)
Grips (Cheap Lowbrow GT style)
Regulator/Rectifier combo
Ignition Switch (I have several. None have keys.)
Tune-up kit (points, condensers)
Complete Engine Gasket Set
D8EA Spark Plugs
Exhaust Pipe Crush Gaskets
Gaitors (Could I run without these?)
Fork Seals
Headlight  (I also need a headlight ring. Neither of my buckets have a ring)
Front and Rear Wheel Bearings and seals
Cheap plastic throttle tube
SS Allen head bolt kit
All Balls steering stem tapared bearing kit
Carb Float Bowl gaskets

Other things to order:

Big Bore Piston and Ring kit
Dunlop K70’s
Rear wheel spokes (fronts are OK on one of my front wheels)
Spoke wrench
Primary Chain
Cam Chain (and possibly tensioner kit)
Drive Chain (with a 46 rather than 48, will I need a couple links shorter chain? Original was 100 links with a 17/48)
4 Spark Plug Wire splice kits and wire

This list still doesn't include the POR-15 kit I'm going to need for the CX tank, or the paint to paint it with. It also does not include the seat pan I need to buy as the only seat I got with the bike was trashed and the plastic pan was/is cracked in several places.

Here's my list of needs, as stripped down as I could get it:

The first list is everything that is in my Wishlist at DCC. The second are things I can get from wherever. (Tires will come from Bike Bandit) - what size, as I may have these brand new for you?

Front Brake Pads
Copper Banjo Crush Washers - Slingshot
Rear Brake Shoes
Lower SS Brake Line - Slingshot
Hard Line - Slingshot
Speedo Cable - Let me check
Tach Cable - Let me check
Throttle Cables     (Yes, all of my cables were junk. All of them.)
Glass in-line Fuel Filter - Dump it
Vent Hose
Front Sprocket (17)
Rear Sprocket (Original was 48, but I’m tempted to use a 46 for better in town torque)
Grips (Cheap Lowbrow GT style)
Regulator/Rectifier combo - Buy from Rick's or Oregon
Ignition Switch (I have several. None have keys.)
Tune-up kit (points, condensers)
Complete Engine Gasket Set
D8EA Spark Plugs
Exhaust Pipe Crush Gaskets - I have extra set
Gaitors (Could I run without these?) - not entirely advisable
Fork Seals
Headlight  (I also need a headlight ring. Neither of my buckets have a ring) - I've got a ring and retainer for you
Front and Rear Wheel Bearings and seals
Cheap plastic throttle tube
SS Allen head bolt kit
All Balls steering stem tapared bearing kit
Carb Float Bowl gaskets

Other things to order:

Big Bore Piston and Ring kit
Dunlop K70’s
Rear wheel spokes (fronts are OK on one of my front wheels)

See comments above inline

OK, I'm gonna comment below just to keep this making sense for both of us:

Stock size tires. 100/19 front 120/18 rear. (What, 3.25/19 and 4.00/18?)

What's Slingshot?

Why dump the inline filter? The CX tank didn't have an internal one.

I'll separate the stuff you've got from the list and get with you via e-mail.

I can hook you up with a few extras I may have for pretty cheap. I should have most of the stock electrics, reuglator, solenoid, I'll double check if I have a rectifier or not. I have an ignition switch with a key too. I will check how good/bad the gaitors are that came with mine, may have the throttle grip tube for you as well. PM me if interested.

Front brake pads, look for a Daido set on ebay, generally cheap.
For banjo copper crush washers, Uncle Terrence recommend Harley Davidson's, because they have an o-ring fused in them and work a lot better. I don't know the part number, I'll be buying these for my own build as well as soon as I find the correct part number.
