I see that Kibbles makes head studs for the 750, is APE the only provider for HD studs for 550s? if not, who is best?

also, your studs look so much beefier than the toothpicks in my 550..

If APE makes studs for your motor, go with it. They are high quality. Just follow the instructions (and I prefer using the installer tool as well. Makes it easier)

I'm not aware of any manufacturer of aftermarket HD studs for the 550 other than APE, but there are no complaints about the APE studs, so why bother?

Mike contacted me today about my head, said exhaust guide/valve clearance is loose, but intake side is good. Said that seats look ok too. Also he said by the look of the intake ports and the backs of intake valves that it appears I'm not afraid to twist the throttle ;D. I agree.

Getting a few things done while I'm waiting to get my cylinder head back. Got my cylinders cleaned up and honed.

And put the engine back in the frame.

Then spent some time out in the garage finishing up my stair rails (been dragging this out)



Need to get this bike back together, it was 61 degrees today!

My son has been treating some of his metal-made furniture with "Flood Penetrol" that basically dries clear and glossy while sealing the bare metal. He used some pickled tubing for table base and then some ScotchBrites to smooth it out beforehand. Came out rather nicely.

I have one more section of the wooden rails to replace with metal, then I'm done. My wife (the designer) wants a satin black finish on them. Taking them to get powder coated next week.

Yeah, strings I believe are nickel, coated with the color. (Very durable so far)

Bud: Jazz style is a Sire (Marcus Miller) brand. I love it. The last one on the right is a Peavey G-bass with graphite neck. I just had a custom pick guard made for it. Now that you mention it, I can see it kinda looks like a Modulus though.

Holy moly! nice collection. I just ordered a new set of flatwounds for my Carvin 6-string. It is my go-to bass.

Mine are also mounted to the wall out of reach of the kids. Until they grow taller and/or get a hold of drumsticks.

I thought the headstock didn't look like Modulus, but the body sure looks like the old Flea model or what they call the Funk bass now.  Is the Les Paul an Epiphone?

Budman, Les Paul is an epiphone. I bought it for my wife to learn. I can't play guitar very well. I've been playing bass for 20 years, but never got into regular guitar though.
