Mike, what makes the 650 valve the right size. I know from riding my 650 the power is much more linear(if that's the term) than my 500's were.

I think Mike is inferring that the stock 650 valve is well-matched with the head, whereas the 550/750 heads benefit more from oversized valves.  A good thing, since nobody makes turn-key oversized valves for the 650 head!

Obviously, I'm a fan of the RC51.  There are things I like and don't like as much about this particular custom.
Likes:
I do like the Ohlins forks.  These appear to be retrofitted to the bike, since Ohlins only made its Road and Track forks commercially available for the RC51, and those were sold out (Dan Kyle sold his last pair) a few years ago.  These have the newer, MotoGP style nitrogen-charged reservoirs. 

I also like the carbon fiber Rotobox wheels.

The engine upgrades are a plus (Ti valves).  The RC comes with ram air.  They probably upgraded/upsized the airbox to carbon fiber model.  I think its funny when they say the donor was already a race-spec bike.  Who would do such drastic mods to a race bike, UNLESS the motor was in dire need of a rebuild and the bike was crashed.

I am mixed about the carbon-ceramic brake discs.  They take a some heat to get up to proper operating temperature.

I am NOT a fan of the wire rod-mesh body pieces.  Yuck!  All that improvement taken away from a completely non-aerodynamic design feature.  I don't really buy bikeexif.com's assertion that wire rod density is varied to direct air where needed.

I do like the aluminum bodywork pieces (gas tank and parts of the fairing).

The wristwatch compartment is silly, other than to get a TAG marketing tie-in.  The designer says there is no watch-maker tie-in with motorcycling.  Obviously, this guy has never heard of Nicky Hayden's Tissot contract.

I don't buy its claimed functionality for a hot second.  It just creates drag and it IS FUGLY.

If they wanted to create some air flow through to the engine, why not go with carbon fiber fairing with some louvred gaps cut into them, like you might see on this...on one of the most beautiful cars IMO.

You guys are awfully nit-picky! I like the impression the bike gives, some beautifully executed elements. And as I said, inspiration Don. As for the McLaren, personally I don't care for them. Too many conflicting lines despite the likelihood of aerodynamic performance. The Ferrari 488 or new Lambo Huracan, or the new Ford GT all stir my soul visually.

sorry I overlooked this. Right....the 31.5 is perfect for the 650 IMO. Maybe you can fit a 32mm in there but I can't see the real benefit. The port shape is nice on the 650 (for the hundredth time) ;D
 I wish I could get a 30mm intake on the 550 head without to much trouble. IMO that would work well on a built 592cc engine.

Hehehe.  6000 hours is sure a hell of a lot of time for the body work.  I look at rod work as an "art piece" since stainless rod cannot possibly be lighter than aerodynamic CF.  It just seems to be in conflict with the 165hp engine and all of the suspension upgrades. 

As for supercars, I agree that the McLeran is not the most beautiful car.  I mentally group it with a car like the Nissan GTR -- a supercar lacking soul.  Porsche 918, Ferrari, Lambo -- all gorgeous.  Today, I saw a Lamborghini transportation truck.  On the side was painted -- Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a Lamborghini and that's pretty much the same thing."  I'm not really a Lambo guy, but if someone wanted to give me one (or a McLaren), I wouldn't say no.  I once drove a Lambo Gallardo Superleggera.  Not a bad car.

The Gallardo was nice, but the clutch sucked beans. The Huracan on the other hand, Holy Crap! A transmission every manufacturer should be required to use!

The Superleggera had a 6-speed E-gear transmission.  The Huracan has what looks like an incredibly fast, 7-gear dual-clutch.  It must move through the gears rather quickly.

On a separate note, I have driven the new Z-06 Corvette -- amazing car, especially for the money (and Chevrolet finally made a good-looking interior!).

Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  That one just doesn't do it for me.  I feel like it would whistle if you rode it fast above 60 mph.

Does anyone want to buy an extremely clean DONOR RC51 for such a project?

I think if I were going to customize my RC, it would be to recreate a works replica of Edwards' WSBK Championship bike (either 2000 or 2002, probably the 2002 Castrol bike on which he won the championship at Imola).  As a starting point, I looked into the front mount radiators and the gorgeous Ti cross-over undertail exhaust, but I just couldn't justify it.
