Where to buy Giulerri Style Seat?
« on: April 18, 2016, 05:43:18 AM »
Hello! Long time reader, first time poster...

I'm ready to buy a "Giulerri Style" seat for my 75 CB750. I've seen a few out there but really like the ones with "Honda" on the back and the chrome trim pieces. Preferably I would buy it on the pan but am open to transferring it to my pan (seat is shredded).

Here is one that fits the bill:
http://www.motorcycleseatsdirect.com/1969-1970-1971-honda-cb750-k0-and-k1-and-1972-to-1976-k2-to-k6-complete-cafe-racer-seat-with-chrome-bars-4267/

I think there are also ones on EBay as well as a little different version that Carpy makes. Any input on where best to buy one of these so that it will last? I'm willing to spend a little extra money for a quality product.

Thanks! Actually I emailed them and Thomas responded with this:

Maybe I stop it completely."

It was a sad email... so I need to look elsewhere.  :-\

OllieCB - contact forum member RickyRacer.  He can hook you up with a similar seat, and can do the stencils.

Here is a link that includes pics of my bike with the seat - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,146902.msg1672957.html#msg1672957

Hope this helps.

Yeah, when I tried to contact them I got some run around or no reply.
Frustrating when you have money and want to buy the seat.  >:(

I have one with a real metal seat pan and the hinge mini compartment with repro foam and cover from RickRacer...the seat hinges have been modified to be a direct swap for a 78K...I am only saying this because you mentioned " Preferably I would buy it on the pan but am open to transferring it to my pan (seat is shredded). I really need to respond to this thread...

Ollie, I owe you an apology. I have been really remiss in keeping up with my emails. There are a couple reasons why: I was out of the country for a month recently and that really cut into my web access, and more succinctly, I'll be 70 in a couple months and I'm in the process of divesting myself of most of my collection and suspending most, if not all, of the manufacturing that I've done in the past.

Making the seats became a major PITA. Thomas and I tried to produce the world's first and finest Giuliari seat reproductions ever seen at a price point that would work for the type of guy who builds SOHC CB750's. In my case, the installer who does the final assembly for my seats has raised his prices to the point that it just isn't worth the hours and costs required to build the seats without raising the prices. There was little profit in them to begin with and with the new costs, it became a time-consuming upside-down deal.

I may try to do a limited number just to get rid of the additional foams and covers that I currently have in stock, but they will be slightly more expensive than the ones we've done in the past. I just have to make new seat pans and try to get my installer to work them in between the high-end customs, private planes, and yachts he normally focuses on. The quality of his work has always been reflected in the final product and I don't want to compromise that quality.

So, that's where I stand as of now. My first priority is reducing my vintage parts collection while I am still able, and my second priority will be to try to take care of this Honda SOHC community that I care so much about.

Once again, my apologies. I'll try to be more responsive. Thanks for your patience.

Ted,

I completely understand. The only limited resource we have is time and this is where we need to be most mindful. I will always try my best to use forum members for anything I need (still need those side covers and braided lines ;).

Best of luck in the future!

I figured that was probably the case (that you had some personal issues you were dealing with) and didn't want to seem like a pest.
I am still interested in buying a seat from you guys (I'll send a PM to you pretty soon Ted).

Got my CB750 cafe style seat from here:

http://www.texavina.com/

New upholstery to a repro metal seat pan so it bolted up and locked in place real nice.

These are the ones made in Vietnam. I bought a 550 supersport seat from them. I was very impressed with the workmanship in hand crafting the reproduction pan - but it was not a supersport pan, I think it must have been copied off a FourK seatpan. The vinyl used in the one I received seemed to be thin/low quality vinyl but it was fitted very well. The rubber feet were too short and didn't even touch the frame rail. The cushion foam seemed much firmer than oem foam. The pan metal seemed thinner than oem pans have and had nowhere for the toolkit.
So I am fairly fussy and didn't end up using the seat. Due to the language barrier and the shipping cost to Vietnam, I eventually gave up trying to get a refund. This was about 3 years ago, I think they are professional and eager to please, just didn't work out for me. John

I am very happy with the fit, but have not finished the bike yet so I guess I will then find out how comfortable it is when riding. I prefer a firm seat anyway.
