Just out of curiosity I wonder what kind of timing plate and breakers I have? It's my old plate and I have changed it to an oem TEC because I thought this one didn't had condensers, but the blueish thing might be the condensers?

Also, I ended up with 115 in main jet. Good color on plugs and it pulls like a beast now. Did easy 140 km/h then I didn't dare to push it anymore (low ride experience).
that point set is really interesting.  I have never seen that or anything like it.
If it works good, it looks good...

Since I had them laying and the points that were on the tec plate were bad I thought, why not try them. My conclusion like many others on this forum is that they belong in the trash can. Instead of putting back the old plate I would rather buy a electronic ignition.

So which is the better one, dynatek or pamco? My coils are fine, will not change them.

You may want to consider C5.
C5 requires a coil change...

Ended up with a Kokusan (same as DSS) electronic ignition from Nippon Bike Parts in Germany.

To have something else to do now when the bike is finished, I have started to work with some new side covers. Making them out of a polyethylene board 2mm. The plan is to sew leather bags on them. Similar shape like the OEM covers.

The bag is now finished and ready to go on the bike! I am pleased with how it resulted considered it's my first time. Have also been working with my "spare" carbs which I will paint in  black (waiting for my ultrasonic to arrive).  The bowls and the top covers have been polished in matte look. My shocks hits the new bridge under the seat when I ride with an extra person so they will be raised by 30mm. That's what Calj have been warning about..

Thank you all. This is my "prototype". The real plan is to let a professional to sew the bag but I wanted to try it out by myself first :). Want to do the other side also but I will wait for it. I will need to make a new battery holder first.  Have not decided if I should go with a lithium battery yet..

Good morning!

I have some questions and sharing :)

This weekend I will be painting my carbs in glossy black. I will use Foliatec 2 component spraycan. It is a "universal" paint that works on calipers and it is resistant to chemicals. Anyone who has any experience with painting carbs with this kind of paint? My usual plan was to powder cote them but I want to try this instead since I have read so much good about this paint.

My other question (might be a little bit stupid) is how to connect my newly bought voltmeter with USB ports, which will be integrated in the bag. The right way to connect it would be in AUX out, right? Don't want to have constant power to it, only when the ignition is in on-mode.

The only thing i lost while rebuilding the bike was the sprocket cover.. luckily I have found it. Somehow it had travelled away to a friends place... Don't know how people can ride without it, so much dirt and dust gets in if its not there!

Have also bought a new set of coils, wires and caps (5 ohm) that will be installed these days :D The coils that was on the bike are not in the best shape anymore...

I'm about to put the carbs together and I want to change the felt gaskets also, not only the rubber ones. The problem is that I can't find the felt gaskets anywhere to buy. Anyone who knows where to buy them? Or is it a custom job?

The carbs are PD46B and the felt gaskets should be on the throttle shaft in carb 1 & 4 (2PCs), and on the choke shaft (6 PCs).

Just out of curiosity. Why have Honda choosed to only have felt gaskets on carb 1 & 4? Carb 2 & 3 has rubber gaskets

So I ended up making my own felt gaskets. Couldn't find them anywhere to buy here in the EU. Asked some companies here in Sweden if they could special made them for me but no one of had the correct tools for the size I needed. Instead they sent me the material to make my own :)

The paint I used to paint my carbs is the best spray can paint I have ever used, I must say. Probably because its 2C. Good coverage, nice glossy finish and it feels really hard after it has cured (1 week). Before I painted the carbs i cleaned them 2x times with an ultrasonic + 1x time by the PO + aceton. Bought this carb set to have as reserve but it ended up with fixing them. The PO already had dismantled them and put all parts sorted in small boxes (thank you for that). I also had my "old" carbs to watch as a reference when assembling thees ones. Will use thees ones for sure!

Whats left to do with them before putting them back on the bike is to check the float heights. They have been bench synced but will also get a vacuum sync. The needles have been raised one step (lowest notch).

The shocks has also been raised by 30mm (340mm eye to eye) to get some more Clarence.

that point set is really interesting.  I have never seen that or anything like it.
That point set might be Accell..... looks like GM points like in a MaxiDwell.

Thought I could do a small update. Riding the bike as often I can and it runs good :) Bought a new bike yesterday and it's and Italjet Dragster 180 cc 2T. It's a Piaggio engine in it, the rocket engine like many call it. You can find it in the Gilera Runner 180CC also.

These machines are really fun to drive stock but my plan is to tune it a little bit with a new exhaust, rollers, pod filter, re-jetting the carb and eventually change the springs in the clutch. Some minor cosmetics with new paint and bits also. Will make a new thread i Non Sohc-bikes.

The black one is my inspiration and the blue one is mine.

Thank you. Yes, of course. I've done some minor changes to it. Have added a volt-meter and changed the color on two wires. I have not revised it yet in this diagram but it doesn't matter for you since you are free to use what color you want :). Will upload the "new" one this week.

Sorry to go back to the beginning or this thread but had a question about the photo of your sprocket cover.  It looks like you have a painted one.  My 1974 550 has a somewhat scratched up chrome cover.  Is there a painted version of this part?  If you painted your chrome cover how did you get good adhesion over the original chrome finish?  Thanks
