The new Daiichi condenser crapped out on Matt, and he replaced it with the dented one.

Got home Friday eve around 6pm. The bike ran great the 2300 miles. It was nice to meet everyone. We need to do it next year.

Matt,

How'd your bike do on the return?
I'm still returning. Had a rough day yesterday. First the bike died on me about 10 miles out of Moab, turned out my fuse box broke. Power to it but none at the fuses. With some advice from Scott I ran an alligator clip from the solenoid to the main fuse. That set me back about an hour or so unloading all the gear checking every bit of the wiring harness and then reloading. A bit later in the day it started to feel just like when my Power Arc ignition failed but with only half loss of power, not total. Scott has warned me earlier of the unreliability of the Daiichi condensers so i figured that's what it must me. Pulled over in the middle of the dessert and swapped the old one back in and she's been running smooth ever since. Unfortunately, now that I've had all these issues I get paranoid at every bump in the road that the bike is starting to die on me again. On another note, looks like I might be heading into the SF Bay Area just in time for heavy eclipse traffic.
So much to do, so little time.

You know what "Red of 'Red and Green' on PBS" used to say, "Guys remember, if you can't be handsome, be handy."
Good thing we are a handy lot...else we would be calling AMA, Geico, AAA, etc for a tow often riding vintage bikes.

Safe travels, Mooshie, Matt, Terry, Frank and the others still out on the road.

No, it will overflow running at a stop light and it will overflow when the engine is off and the tap is also off. It's bugging the deal out of me. Sometimes it's like it is being starved, other times the fuel smell is strong.

This is often caused by a dimple on the float tang:I've used the fingernail file in my Swiss Army Knife once to fix it in the road. :)

Looks like a lot of people wish they'd come. Maybe next time eh?

Thanks to Danny for setting the whole thing up. I know what a chore it is to do stuff like that. It really was a great success. Nobody I met for the first time was like I imagined them. It really was a hoot.

Hopefully me, too, next time?
I'm sitting upright today, typing and wishing for a ride, nice day here. Surgery went OK, from what I know so far, but won't be riding for a couple months, it seems.

Well gents I have made it to Missouri. Dash is doing well except for the oil seepage from the head and it is so damned hot that his clutch gets finicky in low gears OR I'm just tired and overthinking shifting on hills so I'm messing it up LOL. Probably the latter. More from the road later. Safe travels to all who are still there!

I have the same issue. Thanks Hondaman! I'll inspect my tang more closely on that carb.I hope you get better soon and get back on the bike. To all who made the trip. Thanks, I enjoyed reading all the posts. I noticed no video was posted. A nice video of you all around a campfire or the bikes each telling a road story about your bike (or anything) would be stellar. Weather it be how you made a repair, close calls, people you met, the beauty of our great nation seen from the prospective of a biker , anything really. A CB SOHC documentary would be nice. Maybe next year.

Well I was plotting our route for tomorrow over Lolo pass to Lewiston and found out the road is closed due to forest fire. Going around would be formidable so we had to cancel our reservation and we'll be rubbing elbows with all the darlings on I90 all the way home...Ugh.

Major back surgery. About March this year I started "losing" my left leg, by June both were involved. By the time of surgery Tuesday, my left was below 50% strength, cramped constantly, and the right was getting worse at an amazing pace. Pretty interesting what happens when the backbones get together and pinch off the nerves! They had to "bore me out" and apparently break some Foramen and then put them back together, to free the nerves.

FREEDOM! That's what we want! :D :D

Mooshie, what brand oil are you running in Dash and how many miles on it?  Might improve greatly dropping some fresh Spectro or Belray EXL in could resolve the issue.  I would consider a synthetic as it will handle high heat of the aircooled motor much better.  It is my understanding that the gearboxes are very hard on the motor oil and the shearing causes it to contribute to many of the neutral issues and shifting issues.
If the shifting i going away as the bike gets hot or is it constantly having the neutral and shifting issue.  You have many more miles ahead and the mountains might have been harder on oil than it normally sees.  How is your clutch adjustment?  I presume you are keeping the bike topped up with oil, given it is leaking a bit.

Spinal stenosis is  real nasty thing to deal with, I know from personal experience.
Sounds like you had some good surgeons for some very intricate work in  a high stakes area of the body.
I am glad you are doing well, it is no funthe prospect of no riding for months.  Be careful to not overdo it and injure yourself, it will delay your healing.

I have never been one to make decent decisions about myself and my health. This a.m. after a great dinner last night and a wonderful sleep - we were on our way to pick up the truck and haul Bow back to the beach. Unfortunately, I felt too good to do that and convinced my darling bride that I needed to ride back home. We jumped on the 10 and made a mad dash for the beach. The Coachella Valley was damn near unbearable with the wind and the heat, but climb we did into Orange County and all the way home from Mesa, AZ. 356 miles or something like that.

Never needed to touch the tool kit but the bike has earned a couple of days off. I'll follow up with pics later. Glad to hear everyone's doing ok.

Matt, sorry dude. Just had 'em lying around. I'll never do that to you again.
