Well she runs! Sounds amazing and the plugs look great so far. Bad news is the mlock seems faulty, and I have a base gasket leak. Leak is coming from the ignition side and the front cam chain channel. I'm hoping it just needs a re torque and not a year down.  :'(

Let's hope a re-torque is all that is needed for the leak. I like my 550 Hindle, so this one can only sound angrier!

Ugh same! I used brand new stud bolts and all new seals, gaskets, etc.
Base gasket is the cometic .010.

What makes you think the m.lock is faulty?

It won't pass enough amperage to maintain power flow while cranking. I hooked up a different switch and it started right up. They are the easiest things to wire, I triple checked connections, and nothing.

Only the brown wire is in the "Lock", then the red wire to power and the black to ground.
I can get a better pic Cal. But I didn't wire it any differently than my other bike.

Yeah this is a known issue. Revival Cycles comes across this every now and again. What battery do you have? They say they have little tricks to make it work so maybe contact them if you can't use a larger battery?

I don't think I'd describe this as a fault with the mLock so much as I'd describe it as a protection for the mUnit. Any ECU that sees too little voltage will "reboot".

Yeah I agree. It's just more of a situation that can happen. A work around is a larger capacity battery or whatever magic Revival Cycles is talking about when they say they have tricks or something.

I have the Shorai LFX14A2 and I have no issues with the m.lock, m.unit and starting my 650.

Interesting quirk regarding the m-lock.  Where did you place your sensor?

I was using a fully charged AGM battery. Ordered a shorai like on the other bike.

Thanks for the video.
The base gasket is the rubber coated steel .010" cometic from Dynoman. Any tips or tricks Mike?

The upper case and bottom of the cylinder need to be very smooth and flat with that gasket. Some 1194 around the oil areas (during assembly) can be used to help seal it. I have had to do this on my FJ1200 on the right side where the top end oil feeds are.
I am sorry to say this but I don't think re-torquing will help Cam.....there isn't much crush on metal gaskets.

A few thousands was taken off the cylinder base, but obviously not the top case. It was a low mileage, running motor so I left the bottom end alone. What gasket would you recommend, and what size?
I followed Daves lead with the gasket size.

Well retorqued and still a leak, so I took it all apart and found I had pinched the base gasket on install. New gaskets and seals ordered.

Yup newb mistake, I guess. .010 is pretty thin. I'm glad I found what the issue was, instead of everything looking perfect and me scratching my head. Live and learn!

Pretty sure I had the same issue with my m-lock and a drained battery. Flash the sensor and the m-unit would come to life. Hit the start button and the m-unit would totally power down after an audible click. Hooked up a meter to watch the battery as I hit start and volts were dropping to 8. I agree...not a fault but a signal that something ain't right. Sorry to hear about the pinched gasket Cam but glad you sorted it. Bikes gonna turn heads when it's running.

That was the exact issue River. My concern was that it was a fully charged AGM battery. After it did this a few times I hooked up the battery to a charger/starter and same issue.
Swapped to a regular switch and she fired right up. I have a shorai battery on order to see if that works.

Round 2:
Everything reinstalled, gaskets changed and cam degreed in.
No leaks!!!!
She’s purring like a kitten, which is surprising because I have only syncd the carbs.
Also replaced the m-lock and am using a shorai battery. No issues and m lock is working perfectly, wired just the way it was before.
A few more things to wrap this one up!
