I drove down Brookside this morning and I knew it was bad. Total bummer!
Must be nearly 2 feet difference in elevation between our houses - only 3 blocks apart.
Let me know if I can help in any way.
You and Bud live only 3 blocks apart? Here, 3 blocks would be an elevation difference of 6 feet or more.
Hang in there guys. That kind of rain and flooding is unfathomable to me. ???
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Yep, small world.  We're what you call Flatlanders.  It floods somewhere in the Houston area every year, pretty much guaranteed, just not everywhere as is the case with Harvey.  My house was built in 1968.  Never flooded until now.  49 years.

Some parts are.  Lol!  Took these pics yesterday.  Water got up to the axles.  Gonna try to go back today and drop the exhaust on the CB.

Bud, I know that it's hard to believe right now but you are one of the lucky ones.
Although the damage is bad , it's not a total loss.
I'm sorry that this has happened to you.

The water is acidic , you will need to wash and rinse the bikes and any other metals that you want to save.  along with everything else

As an added threat that we didn't have up north, you have misquitos and Zeka virus to contend with , get plenty of Off , foggers, and torches.
So sorry.

My buddy is down there with his air boat.  I saw him on the local news (not featured, just going by in the water.   His wife said that he (and the 2 guys in the boat with him) pulled 70 people out on Monday.  That's just one boat.  He went down with a whole gang of folks.  Good on them!

Very inspiring watching all the volunteers and regular people pitching in and helping out and saving lives.  A good friend of mine is a long haul trucker and does Texas a lot. He claimed once that they are the friendliest and nicest people of anywhere he goes and that is showing true with all the effort these people are doing and showing !!

The rain has stopped in the Houston area but it will take awhile for the flood waters to recede.

BTW - the area [Pearland] around Bud and Keith's home received over 29" of rain during this storm, average rainfall for Houston is 50" a year.   Thats over half the annual in just a few days.

Is that the high water marking the wooden tables legs?

Best wishes guys!!!

Yes.  You can see the high water mark on the back tires on the CB750 and the bobber.  13" of water in the shop.

I went back to the house to grab some more stuff and was able to pull the exhaust on the CB.  Probably poured out about 16 ounces.  Water did not get into the head or the ignition.  I think it maybe alright.

Unfortunately I'm on a well and with no power I can't wash the bikes off.  I need the insurance adjuster to come out and look at the bikes first, anyway.

I hear most people don't have flood insurance what are these people going to do?  I can't imagine being in this situation.

FEMA is supposed to help with some.  Some people that only got a little bit of water will be pulling up carpet/flooring, removing baseboards and possibly removing the lower section of drywall on their own.   Spray it down with the mold killer stuff, make sure it is dry and button it back up, tape, texture and paint.

If it got over the electrical outlets, they may be replacing all of the outlets and some of the wire.

It's going to cost a lot of money and there will be a lot of it out of pocket.  The price of lumber and drywall is going to go through the roof.

Up here in DFW, gas stations are running out of gas.  My wife filled up her truck and my subaru with premium, because that was all that's left at the local station.
Now they don't even have that.

I wonder how this will affect the rest of the country.
