Up here in DFW, gas stations are running out of gas.  My wife filled up her truck and my subaru with premium, because that was all that's left at the local station.
Now they don't even have that.

I wonder how this will affect the rest of the country.
Yeah, I heard that from relatives in Carrollton.
Sounds like this could be a issue until they can get supply lines re-routed.
Certainly going to impact prices nation wide.
I need to go get gas today.  Just in case...

The disaster is bringing out the best of the good people- the opportunists will use it as a chance to price gouge, and that'll put me in the pissed off thread...Larry

AP News reported that the latest proposed budget bill was to slash emergency funding by nearly $1 Billion to make the downpayment for the border wall (I thought we were not supposed to pay for that . . .).  Somehow, I think that might get scrapped.

Sen. Cruz criticized the last emergency relief bill for Hurricane Sandy (NY/NJ relief) as a Christmas tree filled with unnecessary spending, but now is pleading for emergency funds for his home state of Texas.

Effing politics!

Gas here in KC jumped by $0.15 a gallon yesterday from the day before. Will be interesting to see if it jumped again today when I fill up again.

Considering that the local katy tx Kroger store (which I believe is the parent company for qfc, fred meyer, and others) also serves as the towns public utility department - I would not be the least bit surprised to find pricing affected nationwide - as the company may scramble to protect their bottom line profit$.

That and/or federal money will be siphoned their way.  Standard tax credit for losses will certainly reflect on their 2017 tax forms.

I haven't filled up since the hurricane, but expect that we will feel it even more out in California.

That level of price gouging is illegal here in Florida, and for good reason. Taking advantage of people that have suffered such devastating loses is wrong on so many levels.  >:(

It's illegal here as well, but unfortunately human suffering can be big business. :(
The Governors office claims to be logging complaints and investigating as quickly as they can and I tend to believe them but their capacity to investigate at this point is mostly limited to looking at Twitter and FB posts..

Gas went from around $2.35 here in Michigan to around $2.65 recently. See if it goes higher maybe in the near future. Bye the way New York just raised their cigarette prices to around $13.00 a pack, highest in the nation.  Did somebody mention something about price gouging earlier.  ;)

First day.  This is the damaged stuff.  I'm so glad I have a shop next to the house to store all the stuff that didn't get damaged.  We had about a dozen people who showed up to help today with hauling out the wet stuff and emptying cabinets.  Tomorrow we start the demo.  We're supposed to have a crew big crew.  It should go pretty quick if that's the case.

Twitter and fb photo shares are legally considered valid evidence these days.

Make them infamous.

First day.  This is the damaged stuff.  I'm so glad I have a shop next to the house to store all the stuff that didn't get damaged.

Damn. :'(    At least the water didn't linger for weeks.

There's going to be a pretty large pile of stuff to dispose of when all this is over.
Not to mention a million waterlogged cars to scrap.  :( :-\

Does this mean gas prices will go back to $4 a gallon nationwide?  I hope not.  If that happens it could re-collapse the economy.  Saw a gas sign that said $4,89 a gallon and random people are selling gas for $20 a gallon.  This is insane.

I'm hoping the water subsides soon.  Some areas are supposed to be submerged longer.

I heard a statistic that only 15-20 of homes have flood insurance.  :o

I doubt it. AFAIK none of the oil rigs nor oil refineries sustained any major damage and were merely shut down during the storm thus reducing the supply for the short term. Once the rigs and refineries are back on line things should improve.

My son's car is totaled.  We're one of the 15 who didn't have flood insurance.  Friends and family are stepping up.

Would it be cheeky for me to ask for help on this forum?  We're accepting any financial help we can get.
