Hey Bill, thanks for sharing that with us!! Hey Jeff, Sorry if I missed it before, but what exactly happened to you to get in all this trouble in the first place? If you don't want to tell me that is totally fine. I support you no matter what bro!!
Peace to You!!
WOW, This is gonna be a long one, so hold on to your lugnuts.....
Most of all, it was my own stupidity that got me here. God, I guess it was 2002, I was asked to relocate with my then manager. If this doesn't make sense, I apologise, kinda screwy. O.K., first, you have the owner of a tow company who has two different shops, in different counties, he wants to sell one and his son-in-law offers to buy it. The son-in-law in my manager. the son-in-law asked me to transfer with him to the other shop in the change over to help keep the company rolling with good employees, he fires several of the guys who worked there because of the problems they were having. Anyway, I said as long as the owner of the local shop has no problem, then yeah, I'll go and help. Well, that was the moment that will live in Infamy. The day I went over to work with him at the new place, he informed me that we lost all but AAA and CHP contracts. We had to hustle up some new accounts to stay in business and I did what I could but graveyard shift is kinda hard to find business managers who want good towers. Anyway, my pay dropped by half, I eventually lost my Harley, my Pontiac, and eventually my two bedroom apartment. A few months later, after a couple of accidents, and a fight with the owner, I lost the job, and everything I had in storage was lost because I had no income to pay for the storage. Eventually, I moved me and my van, which held all of the stuff I owned in the world, some clothes, books, various things back home to the area I had been living in prior to joining the managers company. I was out of work for about two or three months, finally got a part time gig driving cabs. That lasted about a year and during that time I got two traffic tickets, one for something that I was improperly trained at in cab driving and I tried to get the company to pay for it. They of course refused and after so much time I lost my license and lost the cab job. I was then out of work for about 4 or 5 months and exhausted my unemployment, when I got a garbage job as front desk at a hotel. One day I missed the bus up to work and had to drive to work. On the way home, CHP stopped me for a tail light and since I didn't have a license, he impounded my car and dropped me downtown to fend for myself. I still had my van so I crawled in and went to sleep. Not long after that, a friend needed a lot of help on her new house and she paid me with Rita. Eventually, I got the job at the company I am employed at now. Seven months after I started I mangled my ankle and I've been off for almost seven months now. Workmans comp only pays 60%and trying to get around with busses in this county is a joke, so half the time I need cabs, as well. Back in September, I was arrested on those old tickets, they went warrant. I kept telling myself once I get back to work I'd get them straightened out. Turns out, I ran out of time. I was slapped with over $2500 in fines and after converting a bunch to community service, and then paying some in cash, and paying the court fees and comm service fees, I just kept getting deeper and deeper. Shortly thereafter, I went in for surgery to fix the ankle, a week later got readmitted due to a travelling bloodclot, and two months in a wheelchair, now I am in a homeless shelter, shuffling along on a cane, and working off what hours I can, whereever I can find someone who needs a receptionist or data entry done. It got to the point last week that the owner of the lot my scoot was parked was going to have it towed, the owner of the lot where my van was parked had it towed after it was broken into and looted, and I was without hope and decided to sell Rita. I came back to the forum here to offer her up, and the people here took pity on Rita and decided to save her, thereby helping me out. The rest is well documented here-in.
O.k., time for a smoke, my fingers are tired from the typing.
Peace and Long Rides,
Jeff
