Luckily, my big honkin' van doesn't do that.  Besides, the only ones that I know of that do that are hybrids.
That would make sense....but not so! ..........newer non hybrid Malibu does that and comes with an extra battery in the trunk!

Terry, I think we should put your euromotor phobia to the test, I'll go round setting them on fire and you see if you can be bothered pissing on them.
We'll perfect the technique by practicing on my #$%*heap clown car and work our way down from there

Ha ha, it's battery killing weather here today, especially on sh1tboxes.

Yep, Just replaced the battery in "the lovely Evelyn's" mafia staff car.
It's had four batteries in six years.
All under warranty thank god.

I'm not allowed to drive it after an unfortunate incident with a roo a couple of years ago, so the only time it gets a run these days is when Ev goes to the stupid market.
A ten minute round trip at best.

Yeah Brian, I worry that the battery in the Ford Territory is gonna sh1t itself as the car sits for 2-3 weeks at a time between trips to visit my ma, but I guess that 400 mile round trip is enough to keep it going over the couple of weeks that it doesn't go anywhere? Only good thing is that it's a leased vehicle, so any maintenance comes out of the lease budget.

Spotty, that fire thing sounds like a good idea, is the clown car insured? Back in 1979, I was gonna help a mate do an insurance job on his car, he'd bought a new Landcruiser on finance and the payments were killing him, but on the Friday before the weekend when we'd planned to do it, he accidentally electrocuted himself and died instantly, and ironically, the insurance paid out the loan, and his father got the Landcruiser. Cheers, Terry.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

There's a Nissan that puts the starter under the intake manifold. Seems to me that just lighting it on fire just doesn't say enough.  Maybe a grenade.

That is as bad as the older Chevy traverse V6's with having to disconnect a motor mount & tip the engine forward to replace the rear spark plugs.

I thought only Cadillac did something that stupid. A grenade might be obvious if one is looking for an insurance claim.

i replaced the lower wishbone bushes,i fitted those red nolathane ones in 1989!the car was lower then and I wanted that no body roll feel despite the harsh ride, anyway the uppers had worn out a coupla years ago and I replaced them with the same,i decided to use the stock rubber ones in the lowers to soften the feel as now I have it riding higher and as im older I don't like the harsh feel, anyway I expected them to be flogged out badly but they've held up well for so long,a couple have the centre sleeve out of plumb,i was expecting them to be crumbly?i made a press tool ages ago for these, works like a factory service tool!you can see light through one of the old ones between the poly and the sleeve!

Replaced the "fan belt" on my friends '51 Chevy.

It actually is a serpentine belt as it has a modern small block Chevy motor in it.   She wanted a truck like her Grandfather had "back in the day" but when we were shopping for it a couple years back, I thought it needs all the modern conveniences so it will be easy for her to drive, otherwise she wouldnt drive it.  It has power steering, power brakes and AC and with that 350 motor, it picks up and goes!

Of course after changing the belt, I had to test drive it, fun to drive!

Well I used my non-motorcycle vehicle to pick up a motorcycle. 800 miles over 12 hours, but with the occasional piss stop and coffee break, was bearable, even though the weather was cold and miserable all the way! Only 3 months until we get nice weather again, 3 long months............ ;D

I made a deal with a major supplier of fuel system parts to provide an electronic fuel injection setup and a tech to tune it on my race car. This should be a hoot.  They are having good results out east on Top Dragster cars, we'll be trying Super Comp. and maybe some quick 16. This thing controls the timing, fan, launch rpm, high rpm limit, and more plus it records data in addition to what my racepak data recorder gets.

I drove my mazdaspeed Miata on the Maryhill Loops road outside of Goldendale WA.  What an insane hill climb.  In this video, I'm the 6th car the Porsche rolls past at the very end.

Replaced the oil leaking right rear cam cover cap on my Subaru Outback. $4 part. Subaru said they could do it for $200. That would work out to $400/hr for an experienced mechanic.  ::)

I changed the oil on the Caddy this weekend, all the non-bike work time I could spare. I am going to take some time off this week. Mostly for bike work, but the hydraulic motor mounts are shot and need replacing, so hopefully I can get to that this week.

Had to replace 4 rims on my "new" to me anyways, 2001 Toyota Corolla as 3 of them leaked so bad in 5 days pressure would drop 20 pounds on 3 of them.
Why take a chance the 4th rim wouldn't also go bad. Only cost $200 + 43 mount/balance.

Fixed the tyre yesterday so the right headlight blew today. It was a right pain to fix last time ( it's the lack of 3 wrist joints otherwise it'd be piss easy )
Still got to be easier than the #$%*roen Mrs spotty used to have, guaranteed an hour every time, and that was quite often

no, didn't need to do anything that stupid. another little trick it did develop though was it would engage a false neutral whenever you stopped ( it was automatic ) and would only re-engage if you gave it a bit footful of throttle. it would then kick back in with a bang that made the car lurch forward in a most unpleasant way. mrs spotty decided that when we moved up to the hills she didn't want a car that had a tendency to roll backwards on a steep incline...she bought a jeep instead.........that brought its own set of issues to the table

Turned out to be dodgy solenoids which we had fixed and they went arse up pretty much straight away again.
And yes we bought a jeep, it has its own myriad stories to tell ( mostly from the back of a flat bed tow truck.. )
