Looks like it has gone to a good home then .

I actually sold it to a stock broker from New York.

Hi John... what is the Lotus' body material made of? Appears to be aluminum but would think fiberglass.

It would be alloy , hand made and a work of art  . Well it has at least ended up with an owner that uses it . Those Coventry climax engines were pretty common over here . I have changed many hillman imp head gaskets in my day ! They also made a good racing sidecar engine and the odd one got jammed in a norton featherbed frame .

All aluminum. Original suppliers were Williams and Prichard. The nose and tail on my car were a set of the last three they made. Head fairing was the original and we made the “pontoons” and top cowl here, using the dismantled originals as patterns…..

John, are any reproduction body parts available for that Eleven,in case of a crash? or will it require custom fabrication ?

There is one company in England that still makes them. They have the original wooden bucks from W & P. There are people selling ‘glass parts but they are not right, except on a few of the late Series II versions.

I replaced my old Holdens washer bottle with another repro pattern one,I think this is the third replacement pattern one, they break at the plastic mounting tab after bout 10 years and leak there,Im glad they still make these but less the factory wording on the top stating how much genuine GM fluid to mix with water.

Not a damn thing, both of my vehicles are covered in a thick green coat of pollen.   It is finally starting to easy up slightly since the trees are almost in full bloom.  I am so looking forward to getting the wash bucket and hose out..........

My daughter and I sat the body back onto the dragster, I'll tie it down later this afternoon. We have to check on our daughter's cat and on the way back I'll go by the storage unit and ride the Suzuki home.

I didn’t do anything quite as extensive as you did, but last month I replaced the struts on my 2012 Camry and swapped in new sway bar links. The difference in ride quality was immediately noticeable. I do like doing most of the work myself, but like you, I draw the line at certain things, trans fluid flushes are one area I let the pros handle too. It's just not worth the mess and risk of doing it wrong in my driveway.

I was also looking into car shipping recently for a cross-state move, and I used this car shipping cost distance estimate tool: https://www.a1autotransport.com/cost-distance-estimate/ to get a ballpark number. It gave me a better idea of whether it's worth transporting one of my older cars or just selling it off.

My 02 Land Cruiser speedo quit working last Friday.  It had been raining while driving so I gave it a few days to dry off, went for a drive, still nothing.  Crawled under it yesterday, unhooked cable to speed sensor but couldn't get the speed sensor out of the trans.  Decided to just try putting the cable back on. Went for a drive, boom, speedo working now.  So what did I actually do?  Nothing, and it worked, I couldn't have been happier.

I finished tying down the body, polished the headers, put the diaper under it re-adjusted the fuel pressure, test fired it and it runs on the accelerator pump but not so much on the idle circuits. That sucks since it has 4 corner idle.
I'll need to pull the carbs apart and shoot some carb cleaner through every hole I find including the air bleeds. I ran it out of gas two seasons ago and drained it before putting on the efi but it may have picked up some dirt from the fuel lines and regulator.

Finished all the cleaning and finally acquired the dang $$ bearings for this old Borg Warner 1339 (quadratrac) transfer case.  Now time to see if I can put it back together

Went to use the MF135 and after starting instantly, I dipped the tank and discovered it was dry! The hard pipe connecting the two fuel filters to the injection pump has been rubbing on the throttle actuating arm for +60 years and the damn thing wore through! Took me a while to find it too……

Fortunately it came out easily and I didn’t lose the prime to the injectors (the twin fuel filters are massive and kept it going). The tank has a shut off (never seen it before) and it worked. Cut out the damaged section and replaced it with genuine Honda fuel hose and two clips. Let it piss all over the place while reconnecting, so almost no air in the system. Stumbled once or twice, but kept running. Good for another 60 years?

Cut grass for 2-3 hours and as usual it ran perfectly.

Kelly….. Thanks. As soon as I dumped 5 gallons of diesel in the tank (above the engine and fuel filters), it became pretty obvious. It was actually spraying out the tiny hole! I’d never noticed the fuel tap in the belly of the tank until today. Thank goodness it closed up. Fortunately all the lines and fittings on the MF are well made and high quality! Everything came apart and went back together nicely.

I had the starter apparently short to ground on my 76' Yanmar YM 1300D. I got a new gear reduction starter and installed it but it didn't engage. So I pulled apart the original starter and cleaned up everything inside. I didn't see anything really wrong with it other than it was really dirty in there. After cleaning up everything including the commutator and reassembly I put it back in and it works like new again. So I returned the new one.

Kelly……Well done! That kind of magic is my favourite!

The other day my wife was playing mahjong with some friends. The other three women were talking about service people that have done excellent work around their homes. They asked my wife about her experiences she said: “I don’t have any. I live with a guy who can fix just about anything”.

Changing the steering shaft to gear box "rag joint" on the 70 Chevelle SS. Checked the ball joints which are tight, but the original joint has seen its time and is pretty loose.

I have a car with over 500,000 miles and the steering column that has had a worn 'U-joint' in it for over 30,000 miles, and it's not getting any better;an 87' Volvo 240. I've got to get that replaced and wondering if I can replace just the U-joint..
