Ha ha, for the same reason I also like Deep Purple or Black Sabbath Dave, his music appeals to me.

The difference between these styles is that while one artist (Don) appeals to our higher intellect with the way he paints a picture that we can almost "see", somewhere in our inner conscience, DP and BS (?) appeal to the lower, repetitive, primal urges of the common man in us all, and while we probably can't remember the lyrics, (they make very little sense anyway) we can remember the riffs, and we unconsciously rut to their raw, subliminal message.

All good fun, but Don's coming to town, and I'll be going to his concert! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The Lucas motto is "Get home before dark".
Lucas is the original patent holder for the "short circuit".
Lucas is also the inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas is the inventor of the self dimming headlight.
The Lucas Light switch has three settings, "Dim", "Flicker", and "Off".
Lucas Electrics can claim to have invented the original anti-theft device, the "ignition immobiliser".
Why do the English drink their beer warm? Lucas makes their Refrigerators! ;D

I saw an ebay auction a few years ago for a can of  "Lucas Wiring Loom Smoke" saying that if the smoke had got out of your loom it wouldnt work, this can came with a syringe to reinstall the smoke in your loom. All very well written, great labelling on the can and syringe and a damned good laugh for anyone who has worked on english cars.......

No, that's Harley Davidson that doesn't make computers because they cant work out how to make them leak oil!!!

The British(Lucas) made computers using early Windows ME and 98 O/S.  You could tell because of the frequent lockups.

    God save our gracious Queen
    Long live our noble Queen,
    God save the Queen:
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us:
    God save the Queen.

    O Lord, our God, arise,
    Scatter thine enemies,
    And make them fall:
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish tricks,
    On thee our hopes we fix:
    God save us all.

    Thy choicest gifts in store,
    On her be pleased to pour;
    Long may she reign:
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause
    To sing with heart and voice
    God save the Queen.

Hmmmnnnn, it seems that America has a lot to be thankful for Britain's influence in the nation's development, even the American national anthem, according to Wikipedia:

"The Star Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from a poem written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key. Key, a 35-year-old amateur poet, wrote "Defence of Fort McHenry"[1] after seeing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland by British ships in Chesapeake Bay during the War of 1812.

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British drinking song, written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a London social club. "The Anacreontic Song" was already popular in the United States and set to various lyrics. Set to Key's poem and renamed, "The Star Spangled Banner" would soon become a well-known American patriotic song. With a range of one and a half octaves, it is known for being difficult to sing. Although the song has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today, with the fourth ("O thus be it ever when free men shall stand ...") added on more formal occasions.

"The Star Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by the Navy in 1889 and the President in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a Congressional resolution on 3 March 1931 (46 Stat. 1508, codified at 36 USC §301), which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

Prior to 1931, other songs served as the hymns of American officialdom. Most prominent among them, "Hail Columbia!" served as the national anthem de facto from Washington's time and through the 18th and 19th centuries. Following the War of 1812 and the outbreak of subsequent American wars, other songs would emerge to compete for popularity at public events, among them "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Cheers, Terry. ;D

Actually they kicked our ass. Walked right in and burned the White House. In your honor:
Official Lyrics of O Canada!

    O Canada!
    Our home and native land!
    True patriot love in all thy sons command.

    With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
    The True North strong and free!

    From far and wide,
    O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

    God keep our land glorious and free!
    O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

In Terry's honor and in tribute to the brave fighting men of that Nation

ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

 In honour of Andy, Geoff and all the good lads..

            THE SCOTTISH NATIONAL ANTHEM

            FLOWER OF SCOTLAND

            O Flower of Scotland,
            When will we see your like again
            That fought and died for
            Your wee bit hill and glen.
            And stood against him,
            Proud Edward's army,
            And sent him homeward
            Tae think again.

            The hills are bare now,
            And autumn leaves lie thick and still
            O'er land that is lost now,
            Which those so dearly held
            That stood against him,
            Proud Edward's army
            And sent him homeward
            Tae think again.

            Those days are past now
            And in the past they must remain
            But we can still rise now
            And be the nation again!
            That stood against him
            Proud Edward's army
            And sent him homeward
            Tae think again.

            O Flower of Scotland,
            When will we see your like again
            That fought and died for
            Your wee bit hill and glen.
            And stood against him,
            Proud Edward's army,
            And sent him homeward
            Tae think again.

while not the "official" anthem here is the true anthem of australia

Waltzing Matilda

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong,
Under the shade of a coolibah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled
"Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me"
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled,
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong,
Up got the swagman and grabbed him with glee,
And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me"
And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

Down came the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred,
Up came the troopers, one, two, three,
"Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?"
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me"
"Who's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?",
"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

Up got the swagman and jumped into the billabong,
"You'll never catch me alive," said he,
And his ghost may be heard as you passed by that billabong,
"Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me
And his ghost may be heard as you passed by that billabong,
"Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"

cheers all
