If I needed one, I think I'd at least give it a try. Chinese stuff is improving in some areas.

Not suggesting either one but of you notice in the second link there is a petcock with 2 new bolts and the red fiber washers. I have in the past just had to replace those two red washers/seals to stop a pesky petcock leak. Other rubber parts like the 4 hole gasket are also available to fix the originals.  Those prices though are pretty hard to beat if they work.
What is the problem your experiencing with your old one ?

Thanks guys for the feedback. The old one has some gunk in outlet tube #2 that I am having a hard time removing. Looks like calcification and makes it hard getting the brass outlet tube back in (most of the time this falls out but can be pushed back in place). I was going to remove the whole petcock and give it a good cleaning but wanted to a new one to replace so Id have a spare and a running tank.

17 bucks!  Its like the Honda NOS o-rings cost (bowl and petcock-tank) ;)
Looks OK!  Hopefully no major leak when tank is full long way from the garage. :) :)

Replaced a petcock on a 78K build w/ an aftermarket and it started to leak shortly afterward . Fuel on a hot motor ; not good... Stock petcocks on all of my bikes afterward.

Ok thanks for all the feedback - Ill stick with stock. I dont need gas leaking anywhere...just found out today my carb float bowl gaskets leak on the K4 as I was prepping it for first Spring ride. Ill take that as a sign!

I finally  replaced mine last August on my Bonneville trip.  K and L on the box I think
I will enclose a pic of where I changed it, in a field behind an old truck near Miller Raceway..

I had been having trouble with my stocker, even drove 180 miles to get a now rubber with the 4 holes, but mine continued to leak. I think i even made copper washers for the screws, and changed the O ring.. by the end of it all  it still leaked.
And  I think it cost me a motor top end and a 5 month old nos Andrews cam.
So I had to do a motor swap shortly before my trip.

So they seem to leak internally after 40 years. Keep that in mind.
So a word if caution, after changing O rings and seals, let it sit a few hours or overnight in the off position. Put paper under it, see if it leaks.
Things you can do if it is leaking and you can't repair it soon.  Pop the gas lines off at night and install a short hose, between the 2 outlets. Or a plugged hose if single outlet. I also Had a piece of wood to prop up rear of tank.. easier to get lines on and off.
Great fun changing out a petcock over plastic bags in the dirt in Utah..

Thanks Frank for the input love that photo! Very good tips thank you. I’ve had pretty good luck with stock petcocks so far and hearing mixed aftermarket stories I’ll try a stocker again.

The new ones are $45.

I think you already got some great advise Andy. Every bike I do gets the OEM petcock. The quality is excellent and never had a leak.

 45 is good, I was expecting a hundred .
Probably 90 up here.,  with our luck.l

I was fed up pulling gas lines every night and worrying. Bought one on ebay  with buy it now, about 75 or 85  miles away, drove down next day and picked it up

I replaced mine with a pattern one; can't remember from where now.

It looked good and was nice and shiny. Worked well until I tried to remove the tank. The fuel pipes came off with the spigots still in place; i.e. the spigots were in the pipes.

I refitted them and "fixed' them in place with some "wonderfix" stuff. Having carb and idling problems I had to take the tank off again and guess what!! Yep, the spigots came free again.

This time round I ground off the arrow-head bit - don't know the correct term – so the pipes slide on more easily and come off more easily.

So far so good; no leaks, but I haven't tried removal again.

I'm going to replace it with an original from another tank - I have new filter and o-rings etc – and will replace that one with an OEM part.
