Thanks Frank, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it earlier, but it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to you and Per as you’ve both been following my K0 and K2 build threads that listed all of my rides this year with pics. Rather than swamp this thread with 5 or 6 pages copied from those threads, if anyone is interested, go check out my build threads, I’ll just report my upcoming rides on this one, but only for my CB750’s.
I’ve got some uniform Army work coming up next month and I’ll be travelling to Canberra for a week, so I’m hoping to ride one of my bikes, it’s around 4-500 miles each way (depending on the route that I choose) but I’ll probably ride my Triumph Rocket III as it has bags and a fairing (well, a screen) so might be better on those chilly Canberra mornings where <0 deg C temps are pretty normal.
My leaking fork seal on the K2 Bitsa has returned sadly, which means I need to repair/replace the fork tube on that side before mg next ride. I hate throwing stuff out, and I do have two sets of shiny new fork tubes, so I might have to used one of them if I can’t fill the gouging caused by some numpty in the US (where I bought the front end from) using a pipe wrench to twist the tubes out of the triples. If he’d just committed this heinous act a few inches higher, it wouldn’t be an issue, and I do like that my cast iron front left disc id showing no rust due to a fine coating of ATF that has bypassed thd new seal, but J need to fix it.
I also need to replace the ancient speedo and tach cables, does anyone have a hint for removing the little JIS countersunk screw that retains the cable in the speedo gearbox on the front wheel? I’ve used my JIS screwdrivers with no positive effects, so am now thinking of cutting a slot in the top of the screw and using my impact driver? I don’t want to mess it up as I’m running short of these parts out in the “Tardis” and have several bikes to build? Heat is out (seals) so I need to do it cold, and I dare not drill the head off the screw as there won’t be enough of the screw remaining below to safely remove? It’s a quandry, wrapped up in a enigma......
