Well I finally assembled enough parts to do a trial run. My wiper is u/s so I couldnt really see what I was doing but for a first time it came out pretty good. The dark side is corrosion, not dirt. After I polish it , should look good.

Actually, 2500 miles northeast and a hell of a lot colder!
The compressor behind the cabinet in the pic is not the one I use for this, I have a 60 gal. one for this and it seems to keep up quite well.

That is magnificent mate, I've been wanting one for years, how much did the whole setup cost, including the big compressor? Is it single phase or 3 phase? Are you using it just for your own stuff, or starting a business? I paid $900 (AUD, say, $675 USD) to get all my K0 cases vapor blasted!

I was typing an edit when I saw the compressor question. 230 volt single stage 60 gal. I have to get the wiper going so I can see what I am doing, and I want to try some different abrasive grits. Learning as I go but I sure like the results and I havnt even started polishing yet..

Cost was probably around $1000 usd, but I had the cabinet already for dry blasting. Can be done a lot cheaper if you leave out the automation with the electrics.

Geez that's cheap mate, can you post a link to wherever you bought it from? I was looking at around $15K AUD for a complete unit here, and that kind of frightened me away, but even if it cost me a couple of grand, I could cover that cost after the first couple of jobs, and I have heaps of parts I need blasted.

I built the unit from plans online. Link below will get you started. He has plans for the basic, open and closed loop versions and even a bigger one built out of wood, which I might build at some point. The Harbor freight one is just big enough to do a 750 case half.

I'm definitely a convert. My buddy has had Vapor Honing Technologies blaster in the shop for the last 2 years. It is nothing short of amazing.

That's fantastic, I watched that youtube vid a few weeks ago, I'll have to check it out again, vapor blasting (stupid name, because it's high pressure water and air firing an abrasive medium at whatever you're blasting) is the bomb for Honda CB750 engine cases especially, mine were done a couple of years before I built my K0 engine, but the great thing is I can wipe any oil, tar or other crap off them with acetone and they come up like new.

It has been stored in a swamp for a while? The dark surface look really overgrown.

I recently saw a CB750 engine where everything was vapor blasted. All covers and cases. A surface I could not resist to touch and feel.

Having one need more bikes!

I was just thinking the same thing Spotty, I need to make some room inside my garage for a vapor blasting setup, as it's the only level floor outside of my house.

Nice work Dwayne. I only know of one other guy who does this kind of work in the GTA. If you chose to, you'll easily make your initial investment back.

Anybody who has ever tried to clean an engine, will appreciate the results of vapor blasting.

+1, I was lucky when I built my K0 engine I'd had every external engine piece (head, cylinder block, all external covers except the top and bottom case) vapor blasted, and they still look good after my first 3 rides and 500 miles. I really want a vapor blaster........
