Answer with a very high price ;)
That might keep buyers away ;D

I’m open to offers but they would need to be fairly ridiculous. I like this one a lot….

Anybody that calls their bikes a “collection” probably doesn’t ride them…

Rode it around for the afternoon. Stuck very close to home, going in circles and sticking to paved roads. Didn’t really track the mileage, but I’ve put +100 miles on it. Borrowed” an oil pressure gauge from my K1 and it delivered nice, steady numbers (just like the K1). 65-70 psi cold, then +50 running at 4,000 rpm hot. Clutch and gearbox behaved perfectly. Really good news, because I only did the top end. Bottom has never been opened. Sadly, “Winterizing” is not far off!

I just looked up where the Cobble Beach show is, and it's surprisingly close to where I'm at.  I'd need to get my passport of course, but that's easy enough to do.  It's definitely worth checking out one day!

If the weather cooperates (like it did this year) it’s well worth a visit. If you’re planning on staying overnight, book your accommodations 6 months in advance. Hotels in the area fill up well in early.

This is a great Forum, with a really nice bunch of people! Today my friend “Lash” sent me one more piece for this “puzzle”. This air box will need some work, but is a huge step to getting my project back to a true “survivor”. THANK-YOU DWAYNE!

The rider need patina too, John. Maybe quit shaving before the bike shows? ;D

Had a good day in the shop. Started cleaning up the +50 year old air box. Lots of patina and cracks in both parts. The bottom needed less work so started with that. JBWeld “Plastic Repair” did one inside corner. It also has a long crack across the bottom which I’ll groove out and repair once the corner has cured….. slipped it in place  for a look. A lot of fading, but I think it will work.

The top has one part under the velocity stacks that is basically free of the rest. The stacks were as hard as the plastic, but using my paint stripper gun I warmed them up to just under melting. Using gloves, folded them up and they came out without causing more damage….

While the airbox was setting up, started “winterizing”. Drained the carbs, dropped the bowls, floats and jets. Blew everything clean and dry and put it all back together. Battery is out and gave it a short charge.

In addition to the vintage air box, I’m going to work on the original pipes. The one on the lower right has a small hole on the underside, where the head pipe meets the muffler. It’s so low down that a small patch will be  virtually invisible. None of them have any dings, so hoping they will clean up well enough to use.

These few changes will take the bike back to +95% “original”.

John
When you get the carbs back together inject Marvel Mystery Oil or 2 stroke oil into them to fill the bowls, to keep them wet over the winter, then drain them in the spring before running gas in them, it should fire right up. That's what I do.

Stu….I always pull the lines off the petcock and plug the ends with a golf tee (incase the valve “drools” and fills the float bowls right back up). I’ll do what you suggest.

Sorting some pictures today. This one clearly shows the characteristics of an early (#582) Sandcast engine. Much rougher finish than the later die cast parts…..
