Thanks guys! Fantastic event, perfect weather and a HUGE spectator turnout. GM brought three turbine cars from the ‘50’s Motorama Show Cars and even fired one up! Sounded like an 747 getting ready for take off…. Everything from a 1903 electric buggy to the most modern exotica. A stunning Ferrari Super America got my vote for car of the show. My wife loved an obscene 60’s BUICK  station wagon that is For Sale. She took the guys name and number. Yikes! Over 120 cars and trucks, in total. More than half the field came up from the USA, cars from Newfoundland to California. The Owen Sound airport had more private jets landing over the weekend than the rest of the year.

12 spectacular Japanese bikes including a 1979 CBX and an 80’s Suzuki Katana that were absolutely perfectly restored. The Sandcast ran really well except for one hiccup when it pissed fuel all over the 18th green. Wacked #1 float bowl with a screwdriver and it behaved after that! I honestly thought I’d be lucky to make top three, but the Judges appeared to really like my faded, original body work. We took top prize! I don’t attend many shows, but this one is totally over the top. British Bikes next year, so I may take a pass……

Very Cool John! Very nice. A nice gift for all your hard work and the recognition. Imagine you will be invited back again, so maybe the Seeley needs to be finished and dressed up appropriately...
You know if you insure it for it's worth being an award winning bike your insurance is gonna be no fun. Need one of those umbrella policies to cover the bikes which separates the liability and value & comprehensive coverages under that umbrella...

Thank you all. We had a wonderful time, the weather was fantastic and I really enjoyed riding the bike all over the place on the paved golf cart paths! Truly a special event and the trophy really put the icing on the cake!

The Judges were extremely knowledgeable and one of them even took note of the “original” Koito headlamp! He came by afterwards and “suggested” I find an original air box and repair the original pipes. They can’t reveal any scoring detail, but he made it pretty obvious that these items would be “valuable”. Back to work!

No. Only 12 motorcycles are “selected” so no doubles (except the pair of Honda50’s just behind my bike, that came as a set). A perfect ‘79 CBX and ‘66 305(?) were the only Hondas. A few water cooled Suzuki triples and a stunning Katana (the one with the pop open head light), a couple of Yamaha RD’s and a few I’ve forgotten… All of them were beautifully restored. The cars were mind boggling.

Do the homework that will add value together with the prize.

That bike is not a daily rider anyway, right?
Better for the living room and taken safely to prize-winning events as you did.

You might get proposals after this adventure. ;)

John, the pr. of vintage blue/white Mini Trails behind your bike reminds me of one which I bought cheap from a dealership and it was beat-up from some kid.
I installed new parts here and there as I could afford it as a teen in the early 70's;got it running good and rode it all over on the roads illegally.. and nobody ever stopped me !

Per…. Not putting it away yet. This week the weather is staying lovely. Plan to put some real miles on it before “winterizing”. While unloading it this morning, I couldn’t recall if I put oil in the forks! Need to check that first……

This morning I lengthened the wires to the front brake switch. They were popping off whenever I went to full right lock turn. Checked the front forks for oil (I couldn’t remember if I ever filled them!). All OK.

“Borrowed” the license plate from my K1 and took this one for first real run. On a glorious morning, “Ran like a Honda”.

Didn’t count as an official ride, but felt just as good!
