I'll see my buddy Terry and a couple days at work and ask him. He always gives me heck about Hondas he's an old Harley guy has a couple of panheads and a few shovels in the garage. Super knowledgeable on parts and manufacturers though.

Absolutely loving The stance of how that bike looks out and about really like the rear tire as well nice flat profile just seems to suit it almost like a pseudo drag bike.

Well this one has some Harley parts so maybe he will like it haha. Thanks man, I’m 6’1” 230lbs so I wanted to make the bike a little bit bigger. The ultimate goal was to have it low with a flat profile like you mentioned and also stretch it but tastefully. Just trying to have it balanced. The original goal was to have it as a drag bike but then I realized stretching it would affect its ability to launch. So then I noticed it was going more towards Landspeed look but now it’s like a mixture of everything with the tail that I made for it. My neighbor across the street used to own a cbx and a few other cool bikes. I had him come over and look at the progress and he said “oh you built a hooligan bike” so that’s the category I’m putting it under haha

Even though he always gives me heck for being a Honda guy and I give him heck for being a Harley guy at the end of the day we're both motorcycle enthusiasts and we really like anything that somebody puts their hard work and effort into.
The great thing about building a bike is you build it for what you want. I absolutely love what you did with your bike and I didn't realize you were that big by the pictures definitely stretch the bike out tastefully as your goal was.

True, all my buddies are Harley guys and they were stoked to see the bike. Thanks man. 11 years I’ve been dreaming about this and I finally did it. Next one I might do 6 inch stretch just to see how it turns out haha. I still make it look small at some angles but it worked out

Nice forks!

What's the story with these triple trees?

I like your Grandpa's artwork on the tank!

Also, why did you extend the swingarm 4 inches, since you did not increase the power or otherwise want more high-speed stability?  I'm curious, since the 550 swingarm is already about an inch longer than the 750 and (aside from the wet noodle stiffness of the frame) the stock 550 geometry handles and corners pretty well.

Thank you and whoever built the bike into a chopper (I’m guessing in the late 70s, early 80s) installed them. The other guy that was on here was mentioning that they are off a Harley. I installed stock cb750 forks and realized the raked look is pretty cool. I wanted to stretch the rear swing arm for a few reasons.
One, it’s looks cool
Two, I’m a big dude so making the bike bigger would help me look less of a circus bear.
Three, it evens out the bike and makes it more proportional.
My ultimate goal was to have a “drag bike” but it turned into its own thing and my neighbor who used to own a cbx and other cool famous bikes called it a Hooligan so that’s it’s category. Haha
While building the bike I just wanted something cool and aggressive. I think I achieved it

Talked to my buddy and showed him your thread. He said that's pretty damned cool for a Honda lol.
He really liked the tank art.
He wasn't sure on a manufacturer that made trees like yours. Def old raked 33.4 mm trees but not sure who would have made them. Def super cool.

I see that you kinda made it onto the grass at Born Free.  It was another hot, sweaty Born Free.  The Triumphs really killed it in the Invited Builder contest.  Some amazing drag bikes in that area.
I think I had the only MV Agusta on the grass.

It’s ok I knew what you meant haha. Nice to see someone found humor in it haha.
Thank you he did it all free hand and with a sharpie. If you ever want any artwork done we will do it.
Yeah I kinda did but I ended up in a really good spot since I was right by the entrance and exit. So she got a lot of attention. And of course the photographer from Japan noticed it and had me set her up for a photoshoot. Yeah I thought I was going to have a heatstroke at one point😂
Yeah I went and checked them out. I really hope to get invited because I have a nice ace up my sleeve for that contest. I had to lookup what bike that was and I think I saw it out there. I’m not sure if there is any CB 550s other than mine. I only saw CB 750‘s

I think those trees were part of an Allied 10-10 kit back in the 70s.  The trees were raked 10 degrees and the kit included 10" over fork tubes.  Allied made them for a bunch of bikes and I've seen several on Hondas of varying engine displacement.  You did a nice job on the bike and I agree with your Grandpa that magenta was the right color.

I think you’re right. I wish I still had the fork tubes. Idk where they went since I took them off over 10 years ago. It’s cool to know more and more about this bike and the rare parts it has. Just makes it more special.
And thank you man, the magenta started growing on me as well haha.

Is it a trick of the eye or are your forks longer than stock, increasing the rake?

They’re stock cb750 forks. The angle you’re seeing is from a allied 10-10 triple tree (+10 degrees). I wanted to lower the bike so I just reused what I had and put on stock forks. The extra angle allowed it to lower the bike.

Yeah I was aware of that when I built it because I originally wanted it to be a drag bike but now it’s going to be street legal with its aggressive stance. Won’t be fast in the corners but that’s ok. I’ll build another one for that.

Man, just getting caught up on this. I love it.
Have you considered a KZ style tailpiece? There are boxy, square-ish ones and longer, boat tail ones. Either would look great,  IMO.

No I always envisioned making my own. I didn’t intend on it being boxy but I’m limited on the tools I have. I need a shrinker/stretcher to give the radius edges I want for the tail. So I’ll end up making a entire new piece. And when I do I’ll post it on here

I'm not a super matchy-match person, but if you do make a new tail, it would be cool to have the paint and maybe some of the graphics continue onto it.

"There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them — but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one....
