I finally got the Morini running. Once I worked out the ignition rotor was out 180 degrees, and once I set the air gap correctly, it fired right up. One carburetor is leaking intermittently, and there's a small oil leak behind the ignition rotor, but other than that, it feels pretty good. The 2nd hand clutch hub & clutch plates are way better than what I had before, so there's no juddering from the dry clutch on take off. It's only taken 2 3/4 years...

My most recent purchases were a 1997 Suzuki Bandit 1200 and a 1999 Ducati Monster 750. Both were very reasonably priced and I reckon they'll become "desirable" as the years go by.

If I had some spare cash, I'd love a Vespa PX200, or a Honda NSR150SP, or a Yamaha SDR200, or an MZ250ETZ...

Gday Trevor, A mate of mine has a business wrecking bikes.  Has heaps of Bandit bits and pieces for sale. Takes ages to sell a motor for them.  In his own words, "they're bullet proof "  Can make more money selling good engine covers .

Thank you SEI! All I did on this one is a major clean up, new seat cover, tires and stainless brake lines. It was an estate sale of an older fellow that hit a deer bicycle riding - over the bars and broke his neck. Very sad. Cliff.

For some reason I can't see your bike but that series of CB's are great riding bikes. We have all three but the 83' CB 1100F is still waiting to be resurrected. We'll start on it after we finish the 77' KZ 1000 LTD. 79' CB 750F and the 82' CB 900F are riders. The 750F and the 900F are very different bikes. I'm looking forward to trying out the 1100F. 8)

Wow, sorry to hear that.  Apparently bicycle riding in Canada is very dangerous?

The bike looks great, how does riding it compare to a SOHC?

Yesterday, cleaned and polished the Goldwing so it shines at the Oyster Run in Anacortes this weekend and took the CBX out for a run. The CBX is very thirsty only about 200 kms and then go on reserve.

I forgot the Oyster Run is this weekend. I might have to ride up there, it's only about 20 miles north of me.

Yes!

I mostly do country miles now, and get about 38 miles per gallon. When I was living in the city, I averaged about 28 miles per gallon.

Fitted new mufflers to the Monster. The old Staintune pipes were too damn loud!

This is a better angle. The oval is the same dimensions as the standard muffler, but they're about 100mm shorter.

On a road trip in 1979, both of these CBXs were getting 38 miles per US gallon, when cruising at a steady 55 MPH. (The governor of Colorado had issued an edict that the national 55MPH speed limit would be strictly enforced; we had been warned by a trucker who had gotten a ticket for 56MPH!!?) The Kawasaki got about 45 MPG, IIRC, and my 836 Seeley with Webers did over 60 MPG. ;D

Oil and filter on my ‘08 KLR650. Good for another season. Bought it new, great bike, most reliable thing I’ve ever owned. Three sets of tires, two chain/sprockets, one set of brake pads.

Spent the weekend camping in Luckenbach, TX at the Harvest Classic Motorcycle Rally.   

Rode the Z1 up to Enchanted Rock, a huge granite "monadnock" in the Texas Hill Country.   
I was leading the pack of six bikes and had caught up to a car in front when all of a sudden I see something in the middle of the road which I did not have time to react to, a dead racoon! I hit the dead 'coon, luckily the big Kaw's front end just bounced up a bit and I never lost control, it was a bit surreal!

Had lunch at Pecan Grove, a restored 1959 Sinclair gas station, the owner has a nice collection of bikes and gave us the grand tour!
