That seat plate is a transformation from junk to new!

It will be part of looking like new or even better as John usually makes to happen.

I think I need to polish my bikes more. The camera is nice to them ;D

Absolutely no black paint on the top and VERY little on the bottom. Honda never wasted anything.

Guys that can clean and polish a bike and make it look easy, all the hard work to transform them, are amazing. The before and after without all the tools and dirt removal, rust removal, polish and paint or sanding and polishing doesn't do justice to the effort when the house or equipment speeding along the process are hidden away. A bead blaster or blast cabinet or vapor blaster are amazing tools if you have the space for them, the compressors a d pumps to run them and are such game changers. Saw a video of a guy cerakoting some MC parts and he captured the steps but no dialog or explanations and it showed lots of tricks he used as well as methods but left me with lots of questions. Something to learn I guess.
He was doing a modern bike...

#19. Went down to the shop and read the instructions on the can of primer I used on the seat pan yesterday: “top coat within one hour or wait three days”…….

Gary A. showed up and put the bottom bodywork back on his TransAlp. Apparently we’ve finally solved the top end oil leak! To celebrate, I dug out the K1 and we went for a nice ride. He bought lunch too! The K1 is definitely my favorite. The original HM300 pipes make the sweetest sound around. Next up, me and the dog are going to waste the afternoon on the porch!

WHOA! That looks dangerously close to being the "dead pecker bench". Be careful John, next step is showing pictures of the  stick lizzards you have whittled!

Just kidding, that looks downright peaceful, and the pooch adds a nice touch. I know you have plenty to keep you going.

This morning did only 60 km on the wing to exchange lawn tractor battery. Made up for it this evening by going around the dam again on the blue750 for 87 mi. and ride #75.
I keep trying to shift into 6th gear but it never goes there!

That's funny, on my 94' Kawasaki Concours I'm always trying to put it in 7th gear. 8)

#30  200km
Finally a ride with a food stop in Salbohed.
I had a chance to ride after work before expected rain.

I got caught by a heavy shower during 1km not far from home, though.

A refuel trip as usual ;)

Resized photos this time.  Maybe still not that small.

I had to add an app.
I searched and went for Puma photo resizer compressor.
Tried free version first.
Worked fine so I paid for a year to avoid irritating commercials.

Friday 7-26-2024, 204 miles, #49.

Took a ride over to Camp Perry near Port Clinton, OH. This of course is on the North Coast of Ohio :-). As a teenager I spent a week there each summer competing in the National matches as a Junior shooter. In spare time I walked all over the place everywhere that was open to the public and a few places that felt like they probably really were not.

The rifle ranges at Camp Perry are all named in honor of Medal of Honor recipients.

When we stayed at Perry we stayed in these small huts, Camp Perry was used to house POW during WW2.

I took the turnpike for the trip out and brought RT2 back which is a kind of nice rife along part of Ohio's North coast, this takes you over the High Level Bridge.

Per, nice ride and pics. Congrats on finally getting ride with food too!

Bill that Camp Perry must have brought back some good memories. Was it used as a true POW camp, or was it an internment camp for Japanese folks?

Very interesting the plaques at the different ranges, I wish I could read the stories on the bases better, do you have straight on pics of those? If you don't, then just ride out there again and take some be cause expiring minds want to know.😁

From what I read it was a true POW camp for 2 years.

Ride #34, 195 miles.

I rode down to Boerne, TX and beyond this morning to hand deliver some product to a customer/peer.  I offered to deliver his order in person, as it made a good excuse for a motorcycle ride. Met him at Starbuck's (his choice, not mine).  Had a good business chat...I wonder if I can right-off my cup of coffee???  $3.87 for a small coffee...just coffee...not one of those frappe-latte-mocha-jatte things.

First time I've been that close to the big city on the Scout...just outside of San Antonio.  I was just a few miles away from the Indian dealer where I bought it.  I actually rode past it on my way in and the Harley dealer on my way out.  Stopped for gas on my way out and this young guy pulls up to the pumps on his Dumber & Dumber minibike.  The gas station was right along the Interstate.  I followed him out of the station.  He was riding his minibike on the feeder road!  Idiot!  He's going to end up as a pancake.

Anyway, I was glad to get out of there and back to the sticks.  Seemed like obstacles were everywhere.  Made my way over to Bandera, up to Medina and Kerrville.  Stopped for some creek pics.  This is actually the Medina River.  We had some good rain early in the week and a lot of the creeks have water in them now.  I was going to stop for some pics of the Guadalupe River, but some of the obstacles followed me to Kerrville, so I ditched that idea.

Closer to home I spotted a couple of strange looking cows on one of the new-ish roads I recently discovered.

Today my buddy Paul called and 4 of us went riding. We did a 105 mile loop around western Skagit county. It is ride #9 for me. Monday I'm leaving on a 5 day ride to Lewiston Idaho.
We stopped at the Conway Pub for lunch but sorry no pictures of the awesome BLT's and club sandwiches with mountains of onion rings. :P How come all of my friends are giants? 8)

Paul and Bunky rode their Fatboy's, Matt rode his Honda NC 700 and I rode the KZ 1000. The tach on the KZ stopped working as I was riding around the backside of the shop. The nut on the tach drive cable vibrated off at the motor. I love it when the problem happens in your own driveway at the end of the ride. 8)

Today like Kelley, there were 4 of us, that got together along the route to go to the AMCA 70th annual Bike Show and Swapmeet in Greenfield Massachusetts,  @ 80 miles away via some really beautiful roads through woods, along rivers and through some old still working dairy and beef farms, and because we were all on bikes older than 35 years old we had free entrance. Dave had his 1974 CB450K7, my 75 CB750K5, Brad with his 1976 CB750F1 and Gregg had his 1978 CB550K.
The route from southern NH was Milford NH west of back roads to NH 31S, west on 119 riding in and out of Mass and NH to 10S to Gill Rd that follows the Connecticut River through the farmlands to Greenfield.
We wandered around looking through the Swapmeet vendors, most of which were selling vintage Indian and Harley as well as vintage Triumph and Norton parts.
About the 3rd space I stopped by, I spotted on the ground by a table, were 2 sets of CB750 roundtops so I said to my friend Brad(on the 76 750F1) hey lookie here! They were very dirty and I couldn't make out the numbers so I asked the guy if he had a rag, he came back with a paper towel which worked to clean the numbers to read them, 1 was for a K1(7A) and the other a K2/K3?(657B). The guy had all Harley stuff and he gave me an arm twisting to take them! (I wasn't going to spend any money as I had just bought 3 sets of engine guards on ebay yesterday $460 total) but I put down his asking price in his hand. He also had 4 aftermarket tappet caps. That was the only 750 parts I saw today.
I met a few interesting people there to while away the day, Panhead Bill who has ridden his 48 Pan to 49 states over the multitude of years but is now hauling it in his square body Chevy pickup because of hip problems.
My hometown friend Pastor Larry was there with a his 3 Indians,  1 is a 31 Scout 101 and he hauled my carbs back for me in his SUV. He told me later Wayne Carini spent 2 hrs talking with him about the 101.
The awards were passed out @2:30, the 750F1 got an award in our crew. Wayne Carini (of Chasing Classic Cars) was the Emmce so all the awardees got their pictures taken with him.
As we were gearing up to head out, the National president of AMCA stopped by to say he and Wayne had seen us ride in together and they were impressed by our bikes parading in together.
We all had a blast of a day. Perfect weather and perfect roads and a hoot of a Show/Swapmeet. We were blessed indeed. We had so much fun riding we didn't get any pictures along the way down and the 450 developed a leaking petcock(Common Motor aftermarket)on the way back we didn't stop for pictures.
Today's ride #14 total on the 750 was 160 miles plus another 20 miles on the wing tonight to go see the Kerker 4into1 system I bought last Saturday for my friend for his F2 that he put on, so 180 miles total today on the 2 bikes.
Started off at 7:30 leaving this morning at 60°F, midday was a warm 87°F with a light breeze and low humidity, got back to my place to get the wing @6:00 81°F.
I didn't get food pictures of the wonderful grilled BLT sammich at thecshow as I was talking to a guy from NJ and I was hungry 😕 from the long wait, that sammich turned my stomach to 🙂 happy place that ended up worth the wait.

Met my friend Mario in Orangeville for breakfast and then a ride north to pick up the best butter tarts ever in Glen Huron, On. 292 km. for#76.
Mario is the second owner of his Goldwing and it is just 17 serial numbers off mine. Coincidentally my two 1972 cb750’s are 17 serial numbers apart. And I have another 1972 frame in the shed that is 17 serial  numbers off of them!

Beautiful pics and great stories guys! I am truly jealous of your weather, it was cold and wet all weekend so if I had a nap out in my patio I’d have hypothermia! I did ride my white BMW with it’s “new” engine from Spotty’s place back to mine, then we trailered the MZ 150 back to his place and got it going, then conducted an autopsy on the old BMW engine. It wasn’t a pretty sight….. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks mate, it sucks here in Winter, if I had a choice I’d move to Brisbane as soon as I retire, much more motorcycle friendly weather there. Here it’s nice in Spring/early summer/fall, then miserable for 3 months or so. This time of year here, I’m just happy if it’s sunny and dry. The heated vest and gloves I recently bought are fantastic, but wet roads are where I draw the line. Oh well, the sun will come back eventually…… ;D

3 months??? Here north of Boston call it late November for the next 5 months. I remember -42° that's below 0° F. Lately we've been warmer than that. Some years we have stayed above 0°F.

Yeah mate, it’s whatever you’re used to, I think Per said that they only get 3 or 4 months of bike riding weather per year, I just want 12 months of bike riding weather….. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My friend Brad with the trophy with Wayne Carini.
That’s cool.  I used to watch his show a lot.  I worked in autobody repair and restoration many moons ago.  I watched a lot of car shows.  It was like watching sports for me.  Haven’t turned on the tv but maybe 2 or 3 times this year.
