Hi Mick
Thanks.
I usually finish at the same stop after returning from leading a Club run on my other bike.

The A6 over Shap is a favourite road of mine, especially on the old single cylinder R25/3 BMW, out of Kendal to Orton then take the B6261 across Crosby Ravensworth fell to join the A6 just south of Shap village and home again down the A6.
Might see you around sometime. :)
Cheers.
Bill

Here's a few picture's of me and my 1971 Honda SL175. I loved this bike. Just the right size for trail riding, quick and nimble and tough. It hard to believe these pics were taken 40 years ago. Great memories!!!! Also here's my very lst Honda a Mini Trail 70 park in my parents family room. Sometime after this pic I had a bad crash on this little Honda 70. Long story made short, 2 weeks in hospital with fractured skull and concussion. Lesson learned at a young age always wear a helmet and don't run into your friend on his Honda CL70 ::)

Here's some pictures of my dad & grandpa. Not sure what they were doing one day, but it looks like they were having some fun just riding motorcycles around my grandparents property.

...and then there's me. I've been riding since the day these these pictures were taken when I was 4. The start of something great for me. It's Suzuki JR 50. My dad enjoyed riding it down the driveway and back to break it in :)

pics not real good, but me on my very first  mini bike. The year was 1969 or 70.
I've posted pics of my 1971 SL175 before, but not with my girlfriend on the back. No this is not the woman I married.

Ah, memory lane.  Here are a few from my childhood.

This is my dad on his first motorcycle, a 1975 Triumph.

He then traded in the Trumpet for a CB750.  Beautiful bike, I loved it.

Here's me on my first, a Kawasaki KD 100M.  I think I was 10, maybe.

Left to right - My Uncle, my Grandfather, and his brother on the beach at Ocean Shores in Washington state 1969 or '70.
I'm in the middle behind my Grandfather on the '67 Suzuki K15.  My cousins are behind my Uncle and Great Uncle.
My uncle is on a Moto Guzzi and my Great Uncle is on my Grandfather's Moto Beta.
I remember this trip. My Uncle sunk his bike up to the seat in some mud on the beach and we had to find a truck with a rope to pull the bike out.  Several years later I was riding that K15 one summer when something broke in the case and it never ran again.  :(

I wanted to add this photo for everyone to enjoy.   It's  a photo of my Mom & Dad, Robert and Helen Ingalls, before my brother and I were born, 1948 or earlier.  On their Indian Chief, I think on the way to Niagara Falls.
Their neighbor as an amateur photorapher and took a lot of quality photos, which I am fortunate to still have.
Check out the camping gear on the back.
I still have my Mom's riding boots, their kidney belts, goggles and cloth Buco riding helmets.
It's the reason I've loved Motorcycles all of my life.
;D

As a comparison to current times,  this photo is of my wife, Terrie and I , on our 1999 Kawasaki Drifter 1500,   designed as a tribute to the Indian Chief.
What do you think?

What a great thread!   Thought I'd include one of my favorite pictures of my dad... this was a picture taken in high school, maybe 1949 or 50.  He is on the far left - if anyone can id the bike I'd love to know.  Apparently sold the bike a year or so later to buy a car, little more practical in WI.  From all of the pictures, it appears the urge to ride a bike is something passed down in ones genes.  Thanks all - take care.

Got that right. What a great thread. Thanks for starting it Bill back in 2007 8) Great memories for everybody. I encourage everyone to dig through old photo albums, shoe boxes, where ever you've got old pictures packed away and post them here. If I knew 40 years ago that I would be on a thing called a computer and a thing called the internet talking to other people all over the country and the world about there motorcycles I would of took more pictures of the 5 Honda's I had growing up. Im still looking for pics of my 1974 CB360, 1975 MT250, and 1976 CB550. I have a sad :((feeling that I never took any pics of these bikes, why I don't know except to say back than the fun part was riding them not stopping and taking time to take pictures of them.  ;) ;D

I've had the same thoughts about why I don't have a lot of photos of the bikes and family.  It is easy to forget how expensive taking pictures was back then.  Besides the expense of film and processing, you had to take the rolls somewhere to get it done, wait a week, then go get them.  Most people weren't into photography and only took pictures at special occasions.  The digital age has changed things.  We don't take as many photos as a lot of people, but our old Canon Elph is up over 10,000 images.  Think of how much that would have cost in film and processing in the old days.

I don't have a picture but I do have a story.

In the 70s my dad bought a Honda 450.  He had always wanted a Harley but we were far to poor to ever have one.  My dad had a drinking problem but when he got the bike he set a rule that he would not break. He would not drink and ride the bike.  Due to this his drinking was greatly reduced and due to that, those were some of the best years of my life.

Because it was the 70s the bike needed to become a chopper. So my dad pulled the entire bike apart.  I can still picture the engine sitting in buckets in his bedroom of our rented apartment. He cut the fram and hand made a hard tail.  He cut the next and raked it.  He even painted it a wild heavy metal flake (global) red like you see on a bass boat.  Then he put it all back together.  I spent countless hours on the back of that bike cruising around Worcester Mass.  Again, some of the best days of my life.

As time went by so did the bike. And that part of our lives became history.  Many years later when I was a young adult I bought my first Harley. I was the first person in our family to ever have one and it was a BIG deal.  Soon my brother followed suit and so did my dad.  What was once a pipe dream was now a reality.  The three of us rode together on several occasions. It remains a great memory.

My dads dream was to go to Daytona but due to his lifestyle a heart attack cut his life short and he never made it there.  A year after he died I took the only picture I've ever had of him on his Harley and brought it to Daytona for bike week.  To this day (20 years later) the picture is still hanging in the Boothill Saloon in Daytona beach.  So in the end he made it there and will always be there on his beloved Harley.
