Just as an aside Jimmy. Mike mentioned the 2" comp. baffle and I planned to go that route for my go-fast proj. but spoke to a guy who experimented way back & said the 2" didn't work well on the middleweights. He suggested shortening the original & removing the diffuser to get the best punch.

FJ,

I have to confess. As that is the most beautiful paint I've ever seen, I'm trying to replicate it with rattle cans. Hope you don't mind, I'm just that impressed with it!

Thanks again,
PaPP

The Interceptor was recently featured in "Do The Ton, Café Racer - Volume 1".
A big honour. Thank you!

yes very nice bike! And relays are always good. For those of us who are wiring impaired, these kits and support are helpful: http://easternbeaver.com/  The Headlight H4/horn kits are the last hyperlink under "quick links" in the left hand column.

CB550 Cafe Interceptor - Tach
« Reply #156 on: July 03, 2009, 12:46:44 am »
Started putzing around the garage the other night and realized I still had an early VF750 electronic tach to fit.
Unfortunately the awesome aluminum housing from the VF just won’t fit with the Attack Racing triples and a tach only cluster.
With both gauges, it might have worked, but only one means a one-off billet housing and mount will have to do.

The tach is a bit smaller and the red line is 500rpm higher which should be perfect!

What do your think?

Cheers

It has taken me 2 days to go through this whole thread and there are very few words that describe the thought that has been put in to this build( just a few awe inspiring and AWESOME). You are a very humble man with many indescribable talents. This is a thread that dreams are made of, including my own.

I have had a few thoughts of doing what you have accomplished here and thanks to my vast imagination and motivation from people like you, I can only hope that my bike will turn out half as sweet as yours.

You are the man and keep coming with the progress. you deserve a hats off and a bow. enough with the ass kissing and on with the show.

You should see this bike in person.  It's even sexier.  So clean and sharp.  Jimmy's not bad either.  Answered my endless questions and just a cool cat... just not really that sexy ...sorry Jimmy  ;D

Jimmy, let me know when you want to roll old school again.

What I'd like to know is why Jimmy hasn't volunteered to come out to Toronto and help me with my project? Like his bike is finished and mine is...er...ready to get started. Jeez, I'd even give him a free chainguard.

I had forgotten about the chain guard. Now I've gotta get back at it and finish up.
BTW, are these projects really ever finished?
This winter, I'm planning on fabing up manifolds to fit KZ900 Mikunis

Personally, I don't think cafe humps should be taller than the seat, but that's my style. It looks more grotesque from the side.

The rest of the bike looks sweet! And thanks for answering my question as to how Kerkers look/fit on 550s.  ;D

I have to agree here,  in my opinion the tail section should be level with the height of the tank and porportioned to size as well, just my 2 cents..the rest of the build looks great

I haven't been on the board for a while, but I am gettin back to it.  I took another read through your build, and man... great work. The final product looks great and very professional, just like it should have come off the assembly line.  Very nice Jimmy!

Jimmy, I posted a link to your build on the VFR Discussion web page, your bike paying such a great homage to the early ones with your paint scheme and all.

http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54868

Also, have you given any though to modifying or making a kickstart that will work with your rearsets?
