Feel like a trip north of the border Spikey???

I got a few ideas for my K3..........and I pay in food and beer.

All that aside, wow, you have built something truly unique! Makes me realize that anything is possible on a shoestring budget.

so after hunting and hunting all over the net ... there is just NO taillights that fit the bill     ($20 price range, not LED, under 4" wide, don't look lame)

so i'm thinkin i'm gonna have to drop some coin if i wanna get one that i'm not just settling on

really leaning towards a Model A copy , i've always liked them ..

and they average around 40 bucks ... not too bad , but still more than i wanna pay

and this one is kinda neat .... but i can't decide if it's cool or corny ....... or both

ok i've spent the last 2 hours trolling ebay looking at lights ..from vintage Willy's Jeep lights to repro classic knock offs and everything in between    . and after 80 pages ... i still am unsure .. all the ones i like are $50+   ..and some are as high as 100+ (the vintage stuff)

...sigh, it's starting to really piss me off ... i could just say #$%* it and get an LED one for as cheap as $8.. witch makes it really hard to stick to my guns

oh well , i'm going out to the garage to play ...

What about going to a wrecker and just walking around to see if you come across something you like?

Even something modern might surprise you.  A turn signal turned sideways and sprayed with that red dye might work if you find the right one...

so the decision has been made ,  i'm gonna put a Model A copy taillight on my CB ... and use the one from my CB for my KZ ..  i really wanted to use the one on the CB for my KZ but didn't want two bikes with the same light ,

here's what the one on the CB looks like (for those who don't know)

my mom told me once .. "Sometimes in life, you gotta compromise.... but if you don't HAVE to ... then don't"

,once i got the tailight in my hands ... and saw how big it really was, it just didn't look right on either bike , it really is huge

so i thought maybe the curved licence plate would shrink things up a bit ,,, but during all this mock up (going back and forth looking at it on both bikes) it looked better on the KZ  .....BUT.. the turn signals would have to be changed ..  and i was really really fond of the signals bein' on the swingarm , but in the end , they went bye bye  :'(

an old trick i learned long ago for mounting signal brackets

i used the shock mounts as a guide , tacked um in and made sure everything was pretty close to even
(it's a little off, but you'd never know if i didn't just tell you)

this is where that quote from my mom comes in ... i really dig the tail light/plate mount, it really completes the rear end's custom look
....BUT ... i really don't dig the signals , .. they were changed several times, tryin to find a way that satisfied me esthetically.. you may notice they are different signals than before, used some old ones off the honda that needed new guts .. ended up with a happy medium i think .. they don't look bad ... just outta place
they stuck out like a sore thumb before i painted them to match
(looking at the pics i see i forgot to clearcoat the green in the signals ...doh)

.........sooooo .. what did you do today ?

witch brings up yet another quote ... this time from my brother (four_shot)  ...he's been a (car) mechanic for all of my adult life , and said to me one night in the garage many moons ago .."Dude, don't do your hobby for a living, it totally takes all the fun out of it"     .... or something like that

i'm content selling parts to you guys ... then punchin the clock the rest of the week
... i mean it would have it's cool moments for sure , but there are times when it would be ..... ya know .. a job  :P

if i had more cash to invest in it , or some kinda sponsorship that'd be a whole different story all together though  ;D
