Well it took me awhile to work it out Crispy, I wasn't sure whether you meant the deaths of three members of LS in a plane crash, or the release a week later of the Sex pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks" debut album? I reckon that was the day the music really died, ha ha!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I reckon this could be where opinion might show. ::) That being said, I figure that it got sick back in the late 60's and died a slow horrible death! ;D Next! :D

You old timers are funny!  ;) See music began in the 80s for me. While there was good stuff in the 70s, it does not stack to the 80s for me. But all music is good, well all but rap!

Although you do have a valid point Terry, the clue was in the title ;)

If I was referring to the Sex Pistols, I would have held back with posting until the 28th ;D

I guess it depends what kind of music you are talking about.  If it is rock, then I don't think the 80s had the same level of creativity as the 70s did, especially the late 60s and early 70s.  Don't get me wrong, there was some good stuff in the 80s.  There is good stuff these days, too.  The problem is if you depend on the radio stations and record companies, you'll never hear it.

eldar, I know that the different age groups had their own ideas of what was really music. ;) Folks from my time usually refer to the days the music died as the day that the plane crash took out Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper (or however you spell it) and Ritchie Valens. So, maybe it's died several times. ???

When I was in junior high school, I had a Beach Boys record "409" and played that one quite often. One day while we were with my Grandparents, my Grandfather told me that, if he heard "409" one more time, he was going to sailed it out over the lake! :o ::) Needless to say, I gave it a rest! ;D You and I also have the same feeling about Rap. I don't go that route either!

We've got a local station that plays 50s, 60's & 70s music. We did have 2 but one died. ::)

Several years ago when all the kids were still at home, I was leaving one Sunday to play golf and one said Dad dresses just like the 60's. Come to think of it, hell, I am the 60's. Good music never dies.

Amen to that.  I was forced to grow up with the grunge and pop movement of the 90s.  I still listen to some of it, but when I hit highschool I discovered the freewheelin' Bob Dylan, The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell...  The list goes on forever but the party never ends.

30 years ago today the plane carrying Lynard Skinard crashed and killed Ronnie Van Zandt, Steve and Cassie Gaines.
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Thanks for that Bobby, I didn't realize. Over the years, there have been quite a few singers (and such) killed in plane crashes. :-\ Patsy Cline & Ricky Nelson come to mind also. I can't think of any more right now.

Buddy Holly
Richie Valenz
The Big Bopper
Salena

Hey Bobby, I had forgotten about Salena but I had mentioned the others. Thanks for that though. It seems like there were some more, but I can't think of them now.

The biggest one for me was that of Jim Croce. He was killed in a plane crash in 1973, but I'd never heard his music until my brother bought me the "Time in a Bottle" album in 1977, and I've never stopped playing my small collection of Jim Croce music since.

Had he survived, I'm sure he'd be considered as great a song writer as Bob Dylan, but sadly he was only at the start of his career, when his life was tragically snuffed out. Vale Jim. :(

Somehow Jim Croce and a SAS man doesn't compute. How is the still working? Making a lot of battery water?

Nah, I was but a lowly Australian Army Commando Bobby, we were a much gentler bunch than those "Chicken Stranglers" from the west, ha ha!  ;)

I'm waiting for the warmer weather so I can ferment the "mix" in my garage, the wife won't let me keep it inside after the infamous "home made ginger beer incident" of 1998, ha ha! ;D
